My only worry with staying at a club like Brighton is things can change very very quickly in the Prem. It's not too long ago Stoke were absolute mainstays and you felt they'd established themselves as another PL club unlikely to be relegated. Brighton are a well run club and seem to have found a really good replacement for Potter, they always seem to find a few gems to keep them punching above their weight as well, but if they make Europe how well set up are they to handle that extra fixture load? How easily and quickly could they end up in a dogfight for relegation?

It's all ifs and buts, football is so dependent on the environment these lads find themselves in so anything can happen, I just don't think all the calls for him to stay at Brighton another two or three years is the risk free, playing every week paradise some seem to be putting forward.

What's your alternative to Brighton?

If Brighton were relegated, he'd move on like Collins did at Burnley

don't really have one LOL I just don't think there's any guarantees staying at Brighton is a great move, if an opportunity arises to move to a bigger club like United (or whoever) I don't think it's any worse a move than staying, and it would be a big opportunity for him too.

Just meant it as a bit of a counter point to staying at Brighton just being an agreed upon risk-free scenario.

i don't think united will pay what Brighton are willing to accept.
So it's a moot point.

Brighton know that if he has another good season he'll be worth 100m, so it's unlikely they'll accept anything below 70m now but I don't think united will risk that amount of money on potential.

He's at the best place for his career right now, it's rare for 18 year olds to start in the PL, particularly strikers.

I imagine Ten Hag would like him though and it'd be awesome to see him in the CL next season

Exactly. It's crazy. It's funny that Man United are touted as the idea destination. Rashford was a scoring teenager and he was on the verge of exiting the club after a long period of poor form.

It was in the context of whether he should move from Brighton or not - my view being he is at the right club.

I would have all our talent at Brighton if I could. Why anyone would want Evan at Man utd is beyond me unless they are a fan. He is in the perfect place and may even get CL football or at least europa.

Brighton also play way better football.

LOLLOL

Your cautionary tale is a player who is still at the club and one of the most in form players in European football.

He was out of form for a very long time. Was getting abusee from the fans, was on the verge of leaving. So, while he was very fortunate to turn it around, there are many other examples of young players failing to live up to big price tags and the spot light that brings. Most of whom are a lot older then f**king 18 years old

AFAIK Liverpool are pricing Kelleher at 20m.

Look I have eyes he’s an exceptional prospect by any country’s standards and he could go to the top but the talk this morning has gone a bit wild.

Brighton are challenging for Europe if not CL places this season in a Cup semi final. He’s in the perfect spot to develop for a few seasons where he will likely be No.1.

If you want a comparison to Haaland when he was in his equivalent season in 2018/19 (born in 2000) to Ferguson (2004 in his 22/23 season) he was still at Molde and had scored 12 in 25.

Just context Ferguson has so much time but also tells us it’s fairly frightening where he could be in 3/4 years time with a bit of luck.

You did a really good job of tempering all of the "wild" talk you set out to do by the time you got to the end of that post.

I never said I didn't rate him, but he absolutely had a poor game that night and was comfortably outperformed by Connolly. Like all good strikers though, he managed to score despite playing badly. You're welcome to watch the game again, nothing stuck with him and he gave the ball away time and time again. He's playing well now in fairness!

Yeah that’s my biggest failing alright.  Never having an opinion on a topic 😀😀.

It was as clear as day that this lad was going to be quality.  The rubbish talked around the Israel game was just that and he was hampered by a very defensive system and still did well.

Saw that, way too much hype there for my liking. I much preferred goal.com leaving him out of their NXGN nine list for players born in 2004 or later.
