Something a little different, I've created a repo on github for the men's senior side, with all players, managers, levels, opposition countries, and games in JSON files

countries.json - definitions of opposition countries
levels.json - the level each game is played at
managers.json - each manager, and the start and end dates for their reigns
players.json - player definitions
games.json - each game played by the senior men's team, with the rankings of both sides, the level of the game, the starting XI, substitutes, bookings, goals, and sendings off, and an incomplete list of assists

It doesn't look like that is likely to get any better next season either unfortunately.

It certainly won't.
Outside of Mattie, who will even score one?

In better news, we should have a stronger contingent in the Championship, and of decent young ages too.

Gavin Cooney gives his player ratings out of 10 on how each individual player's season has gone.

https://www.the42.ie/player-ratings-how-irish-abroad-fared-this-season-5771670-May2022/?utm_source=shortlink

How I would rate them myself just having a quick think about it, good individual seasons for a lot of the fringe players. Guys like Travers, Collins Keane, Lenihan, Dunne, Bagan, Ogbene, McNamara, Ebosele, Kilkenny have seriously put their hands up for a spot in the senior squad when most of them were not really on the radar 12 months ago.

Some of our 'hot prospects' only had OK seasons - many scuppered by injury (Omobamidele, O'Shea, Idah) and others with patchy seasons (Parrott, Coventry, Molumby, Knight).

Overall it feels like we have much deeper options now but still ultimately lack those real quality players. But overall I would say a more promising season for our players than the previous one, despite the recently headlines around the lack of PL minutes from an Irish perspective.

A: Travers, Bazunu, Keane, Cullen, Lenihan, McClean

B: Kelleher, Ogbene, N. Collins, Obafemi, Dunne, Egan, McNamara, Ebosele

C: Parrott, Doherty, Coleman, O'Shea, Omobamidele, Idah, Coventry, Kilkenny, Manning, Christie, Browne, Knight, Molumby

D: Duffy, Long, Hourihane, Stevens

E: Hendrick, McGrath, Connolly

F: Arter, O'Dowda, Brady

I'm joined by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick and Philip Flanagan of The Bottomless Pit of Football to discuss the senior squad announced by Stephen Kenny to face Armenia, Ukraine, and Scotland in the opening games of the 2022/23 Nations League campaign, and the final three qualifiers for the U21s in their qualifying group for the 2023 UEFA Under 21 Championship, with their fate very much in their hands.

Due to some unforeseen microphone issues, I did have to deliver some of my segments from a phone box behind the iron curtain in 1972!

I think goalkeeper James McKeown is still on Grimsby’s books but currently out of favour. Meanwhile Stephen Quinn, John Joe O’Toole and Stephen McLaughlin are playing for Mansfield against Port Vale, who have Harry Charsley on the bench, in the League Two final….Port Vale have just gone two up.
