Random question - has anyone come across (or been stung) by a jellyfish before? Normally see loads but nothing so far (🤞)

I was in the sea last night around 9 o clock in Murlough Bay Co. Down and there was loads of jellyfish, all close to shore.

Been in the sea 3 times this week. Going again today.  I normally hate swimming in the sea but when its boiling out you just want to go in to cool off.

Was 30c here on Wednesday and f**k all breeze.  Water is not cold.  Small jellyfish passed me by last night so go out then.  Don't go in too far though.  Once I am up to my waist that's deep enough for me.

Depends on type of Jellyfish, majority of Jellyfish that are in our waters don't have stingers that are strong enough to pierce human skin but still be cautious , The lions mane one is the one to watch out for.

my kids and the missus have been out there a good bit the last 2 weeks. Said the amount of oulfellas walking around with their tin whistles hanging out was mental. Flutes everywhere. Didnt realise theres a starkers part to the beach.

That's a little further up the coast, isn't it? Fella that used to live next door to me told me he goes there a few times a week.
I go in right beside the dart station

Terrible.  What causes these people to get into difficulty?  The weather is perfect and there is no rip tides in lakes etc.  Is it they get caught up in reads under the water or something?  Or I am not being smart here can they not swim and decide to go in?

Lakes can get very deep very quickly, and getting out is tricky because the sides tend to be very steep
