Iceland either piss-poor or we're making em look that way but either way, a very one-sided affair.

Glad we padded the scoreline as we were stuck at 1-0 for ages whilst doing everything but score.

Iceland have players playing at a good level (although that doesn't always translate to a good national team) but this is a very strong team for us

Also, this was not our strongest team, you will probably see a complete turnover of players on Saturday.

Yeah, very impressive performance back to front.
Gave away very little and dominated the ball.

Only downside was it took a long time to get the 2nd, but it's a very minor issue.

Am I right in saying we played three-at-the-back?
If so, that's the seniors, followed by the 21's and now the 19's that have moved to that system and all looked the better for it.

If we're seeing our underage teams now moving to what the seniors are trying then it says to me the back three is here to stay for years to come.

Hopefully Crawford sticks with it though and it wasn't just a one off for him.

The LOaI based lads were very good I thought.. Vaughan best of the English based lads. Fraser looked decent up top with O' Mahony.

Very good..played most of the game in centre mid & didn't look out of place. Went back in CH when one of them got injured. Went off injured himself then near the end..not sure if it was serious.

Thought Vaughan & Hakiki were excellent. Grehan, Curtis & Abankwah very good also. Arubi looks to have a bit about him too, thought he looked better than O'Mahony & Fraser. Zefi of course has quality.

Odd kick-off time for the next match, 3pm, when the seniors KO vs Armenia at 2pm.

Thankfully the next U21s campaign isn't until September 2023 so Mohan won't be affected with the likes of Abankwah and Curtis possibly missing for the U19s.

Think Timi Sobowale was the RB for the U20s, can't think of anyone else whose 2002 born, and with Curtis with the U17s in March Evan Caffrey and Sean Grehan had to cover when Abankwah had to move into CB and didn't play the third game.

Any word if Sobowale is getting an extension from Wigan? His deal signed in Jan was 6 months but haven't heard how he has got on or if he's been released.

Upcoming qualifiers as follows, according to the UEFA website:

Wednesday, Sept 21 @ 16:00 v Gibraltar
Saturday, Sept 24 @ 18:00 v Wales
Tuesday, Sept 27 @ 18:00 v Hungary

Should get a squad named later this week.

Excellent thread here on the eligible players:

Might not be announced till next week. Announcements for the U19s and U17s have often been left till the last minute. Remember last year when the starting line ups for some games were posted up on the FAI twitter page ten minutes after the game had already kicked off.

Okagbue was born in 2003 so that was a possible mistake putting his name in unless he's actually a 2004 which would make sense seeing as he played in June's games. FAI twitter page has Rocco Vata included but the article on the website doesn't include him.

No Adaramola or John Ryan is interesting.
