Possibly Scales too, but hopefully not! I think Mc Grath would be best advised to look to a top half Championship team now, rather than Celtic, which is a club in transition.

We've a good prospect at left back in Montgomery. Scales is a decent player but I can't help feel the €600,000 fee was Dermot helping out Rovers with his other money!

Hopefully not, I have been particularly disappointed with Afolabi as I had high hopes for him after the Toulon tournament but he appears to have fallen off a cliff, not even getting game time at Ayr. Any insights into that? Connell has lost his place in the Irish U21 set up and O'Connor has really gone backwards judging on recent U21 performances. The lack of a proper reserve league in Scotland seems to be a big issue, but why did they take these lads on in the first instance and what was the story with Okoflex, did West Ham pay money for him?

Oko Flex left on a free, Afolabi had a decent run last season with Dundee but hasn't had a kick for the first team. We've a B team in the Lowland League now which will help but O'Connor has just had loan spells and not a kick either. We bought him with Frimpong and he got his chance and took it. Connell played some pre-season in 2020 and looked class, never gave him a kick after that! A few of us have joked that we've become anti-Irish the way we've treated these lads. It would actually depress you.

I was watching it and very hard to know what the injury is. He seems to tweek his hip maybe and 5 minutes later had to pull up and get stretched off. He should have been taking off after he first felt the injury but St Mirren had no subs left so he continued on.

Stretcher might be more precautionary as it looked to be a back injury. He was still moving before ronan played the ball to him.
Thought mcgrath was playing well, ronan too. If I was to compare some player and rank our options this season I would have Cullen Hendrick Knight Kilkenny Mcgrath Molumby |

They played well St Mirren they just sat way too deep in the last 20 mins of the first half. So frustrating and it cost them the game as they were more then a match for Rangers. Easy to see why they are doing the best they have done in about 40 years as a club. Ronan played very well and it could be the making of him this loan move.
McGrath played well pity about the injury. We have Knight touchwood to slot in at least. Maybe Ronan might get called up now too. Edited by kevin100 - 24 Oct 2021 at 2:34pm |

Fingers crossed it was one of those that debilitates a player because of where it is more than how bad it is.

what I’ve seen of scales in his limited Celtic career he is a better player than Montgomery but the Croatian lad looks a fine player at left back also.

St Mirren put out a statement in the last hour saying he will be back in full training the Monday after the Dundee game, which is on Sunday coming. No worries he won’t make our squad now.
