That’s 2 errors in 2 games under Jones. His place is under pressure.

Yup his positioning was poor but it would be a help to have even a basic defence in front of him or players that could defend properly! Niles is the main culprit in that situation not Bazunu that attempt at a clearance was a shambles if he can do the bare minimum basic expected of a defender and clear the ball there’s no issue!

Do get the impression fans have really turned on him until I see the goal I just thought it exclusively a Bazunu howler going by commentary on Twitter from Southampton fans. The defender who shanked his clearance into the direction of the net didn’t get half the flack!!

I’m expecting him to get dropped in the coming weeks as it’s just the easy thing for the manager to do! He has been very green and is part of the problem but he’s not the only problem they have been a shambles defensively anytime I have watched him!

Bar hes playing in “the Prem” there hasn’t been any positives it’s certainly not been good for his confidence!!

Nah, forget about him. He's a failure like every other young Irish player who isn't faultless from the age of 12.

Just watched the goal a few times there. Can't see what bazunu did wrong, yer man out muscled him/ possible foul on the keeper too. Not too sure what you lads expected him to do here.

Give yer head a wobble. A top keeper has that under control

How exactly, big lad is in his way with a dipped lob.

Good keeper clears him out of the way and claims that ball. You're never giving away a pen there keepers are way too protected for that.

No keeper can clear a large apponent out of the way by backing into them at an awkward angle especially if the opponent has his arms already over the keeper. It's physics

Where is he going before the dipped lob? Terrible footwork and terrible positioning. If the same howler came about from Kelleher or Travers, the place would be awash with fans saying Baz is undisputed number one. Bottom line is the lads confidence looks shot, not helped playing behind that defence no doubt. A save % of 57.8 for the season is simply not good enough, doesn’t matter how many penalties he saved from Ronaldo. Notts Forest have conceded more goals than Southampton, yet Henderson’s save % is 8.1% better? Ultimately, his job is to make saves and he hasn’t done that very well so far this season and last night was another example of that

Bazunu needs to defy physics if he wants to be good enough for the eire

Agree with your first points re last night's goal but not sure about the save % stuff. In isolation it doesn't tell us a whole lot as we don't know what kind of shots Bazunu has faced as opposed to Henderson or anyone else. Have Southampton conceded more clear cut chances? Do teams take less long shots against Southampton? There are a variety of reasons as to why his save % could be lower rather than just poor goalkeeping.

It would be interesting to see the reaction if someone like Neto conceded that goal.

I get that it’s not a stat that takes everything into account but I find over the course of a season it’s separates the good from the bad. A good keeper playing in a bad side will make more saves than a bad keeper playing a bad side. As I said over the course of the season these things level out so it’ll be interesting to see where he sits at the end of the season. Just hoping he won’t be dropped as that’s the last thing we need, our 3 keepers not playing regularly

Majority would be calling for travers to be reinstated as number one. The difference is Neto’s performances since he got a chance have been pretty good. Bazunu was on a short leash before last night
