He's not ranked as the third best keeper - that list is sorted alphabetically...

It's not entirely clear what one stat you'd use to determine who's performing best.   Possibly PSxG, although I'm not sure where -2.5 goals comes from as the stats show he's conceded 11 against an xG of 7.5, so that should be -3.5?   Maybe it's only counting xG from shots on target - if that's what it is, then only Danny Ward at Leicester (-6.1) is doing worse this season.

Also, I don't agree Bazunu did nothing wrong for the first Armenia goal.   If you look at the replay looking down the pitch from behind the Armenia goal (on the RTÉ Twitter feed), you can see that when the first shot is sent in, Bazunu's footwork is nil.   He had time to take a step to the right and give himself an easier save wide, but instead he delays and then dives, so starting from a worse position, with the result that he can only touch the ball onto the post, and we know what happened from there.

There were others to blame for the goal too - as is often the way - but Bazunu was definitely at fault.

He's only 20 of course and still learning.   But let's not be completely blinded for that.

Colin Doyle appeared in the PL 4 times in his career. He made two for Birmingham as back up as a 20 year old that's more comparable to Travers making 2 for Bournemouth as a 20yo.

Bazunu has already played 7 and is the youngest to play the first 7 games in PL history on track to be the youngest first choice keeper in PL history. Just completely out of context that.

He does need a kick up the backside Bazunu particularly regarding positioning needs to make more effort initially sorting his positioning leading into stopping shots at goal.

In general this thread reminds me of Kelleher after we lost to Armenia lads way ott with the criticism. Easy to forget both lads and Travers are still young for goalkeepers.

But he is young. 20 years old is remarkably young for a GK.

He's probably the best U21 GK in the world right now. Definitely the best U20.

De Gea was still a work in progress at United during his first 2 seasons. Even after a full season as Atlético's #1 GK.

Bazunu is the same. I wouldn't really pay too much attention to a few Saints fans. I've watched 4 Southampton games this season. He's been good in the majority of them. Impressive against United.

He's ranked as the 3rd best PL GK this season so far, statistically speaking.

Kelleher conceded less than that amount, in double the amount of gametime in this group. And yet bizarrely, there is still demands for Travers, the man who lost his last game 9-0, to get the nod ahead of him.

At least Travers has played a few games at club level in the past 6 months all the same

Kelleher needs to move away if he’s to have an Ireland career

Kelleher doesnt have to do anything, he returned from injury today for the LFC U21s, good to see. Didn't see the Southampton game today, how was Baz, apparently getting some stick off Saints fans on twitter!

Watched the game today. Anyone blaming Bazunu for Southamptons downfall today must have been smoking some serious greenery at the time of tweeting.

Very little he could do for the goals. Southampton are just a shambles defensively so open. To go 1-0 up and concede 2 like that straight away is schoolboy stuff.

Southampton do this they go on losing runs but will no doubt win a few games soon out the blue. They could be in a relegation scrap if they don't improve defensively mind.

He wasn't to blame for either goal today. Did drop a cross in the first half though that would have been considered a bit of a clanger if his defence hadn't bailed him out.

Think the very elite goalkeepers could have executed coming off the line and punching the first one.
Main concern with Bazunu is that he is a bit like Shay Given, doesn't command the box too well, stays on his line.

Given got away with it more as he was a remarkable shot stopper. But still never made it to the very top either but if Bazunu could have a similar career he would be very happy of course.
Bazunu, he is conceding goals that you would say "ok it was hard to save " but the likes of Given would probably be saving a few of them.

Didn’t do great for either goal yesterday, without either being a big error, if you get me.

That’s his last 4 goals conceded in the past week that he may have done better with

Wasn't brilliant for the Armenia goals, absolutely faultless for either yesterday. I don't get these pile-ons, a player makes a mistake one week and then subsequently they're being called out for supposed mistakes in every game that follows.
We're decent enough..

Have a feeling he will be dropped soon. Premier League managers aren't as sentimental as some here.
