I'm still thick as sh*t when it comes to this despite my beginner's wine course during Euro 2016

Is there any actual difference

I'm drinking a Malbec right now, I wanted an Argentine one but the Centra didn't have one at 9:50pm tonight, so I had to settle for Chilean one

It's grand

It's a while since I drank a Montepulciano but my memory of this type of wine is very favourable

Super Valu used to stock a Portuguese wine called "Charamba" which I loved, I drank a lot of this during Euro 2000

Let's focus on the grapes here though

There are light yet heavy, fruity yet meaty notes to this Malbec, it's a Santa Rita 120 Reserva Especial from the Valle Central in Chile - appropriate enough for this Christmas it should have Santa and 20 in the title

Please describe your wine of choice this Christmas

Chateneuf de Pape, usually a fairly expensive bottle, Centra were doing a special on them recently so stocked up on that.

The wife's in a wine subscription service thing, sent here a lovely bottle a few months back that I loved so got a good few of them in too - Resalo it's called

all of em Sid, as long as it’s a decent vintage and not a cheapie.
Incidentally Shiraz comes originally from the area of the same name in Persia, modern day teetotallers paradise Iran.
Got given a Lebanese for birthday a few years back was lovely!
Tesco were stocking a Chinese too which was not bad at all for a tenner .

Got a bottle of this myself as a present. It is a lovely wine.

Got myself a bottle of Ludovic Pouzol French malbec for today.
It was far across the sea,
When the devil got a hold of me,
He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.

Malbec - yeah, but needs to be from Mendoza in Argentina. I really cant abide the French variety. Not a grape variety as it's a blend but a nice Bordeaux or St Emiliion hard to best.

Saperavi- the main variety in Georgia. Grew very fond of this on the many trips. Had a pricey bottle in London last year l. Great

The humble Chardonnay grape when grown in Champagne or Chablis. Have both for today.

2nd this - this would be my regular go to red wine.
Can’t drink White, worst hangover ever.

Xmas day: Louvel Champagne from Asda is a nice drop and 50% less than the big branded names.

Casillero del Diablo, Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile. Goes down easy.

Throw in some liquors and G&Ts and you have a great day!!

I had it in Vagabond wines in Clapham but have seen varieties in Waitrose and Majestic Wines.
