I'M assuming that's the squad for all three games? Would Robinson be available for Serbia maybe?

He was hopeful of Robinson and someone else (Browne? maybe) being available for the home games

Be a big boost of Robinson, and less so Browne, were available for the home games as they will certainly add to the quality of the squad.
Just have to avoid a battering in Faro...

Seems to be a ball licking exercise for them. Is there an embargoed part that we'll get tonight or something were they ask the big boy questions?

The goalie and defence no issue.

Defence the same, we have options even!

Attack, would be nice to have Robinson but we can still put out 2 or 3 of them that would be a threat on their day.

Unfortunately, the attackers are more likely to get chances from their defenders. That midfield is just not going to help create the chances needed to best most of the teams in our group.
Long ball game might actually suit us!

Arter, curtis and horgan, God Lord terrible. Browne, mcCarthy,Byrne, Knight, Brady, Kilkenny would be slightly better options if available or selected. Also obafemi what the story with him?surely going forward it better to have him in squad instead of long.lastly is our midfield that bad?

Dont think its an injury per say but could be wrong.

I think its because he hasn't had a full pre season and has only had two 15/20 min cameos for celtic. In the two appearances, match fitness seemed an issue.

Looking at the group now we really can't afford Luxembourg beating Azerbaijan away which'd bring them onto 9 points assuming they get beaten in all their games with Serbia and Portugal.

If we managed to take the maximum 6 points of Azerbaijan, beat Serbia at home it would be huge and almost guarantee us third spot and we may not even have to beat Luxembourg away in the last match.

Probably a much better chance of on away win in Luxembourg than a home win against the Serbs tbh.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Looking beyond the world cup, I'm not sure there is much difference in finishing 3rd or 4th in the group - the remaining games are about building from Wednesday's game and a good winning performance on Saturday will be the next step - even if its by 1 goal.

If you take position we can still finish 2nd (say 95% unlikely) then win in both is a must.

I'd be happy with a win on Saturday and then be competitive against Serbia. If Serbia beat Lux on Saturday they may be happy wth a point against us - 4 points would be good return from the 3 games. 6 would make the 95% unlikely 90%.

to finish 2nd, we need the following to happen:
We win all 5 remaining matches (a big ask - Serbia at home isnt easy, and not many will fancy us to beat Portugal. And we are assmuing we beat Luxembourg away)
And we need Serbia to drop points somewhere, possibly away to Luxembourg as you'd assume they will beat Azerbijan.

The above scenario is beyond us I think.
Time to move on from this campaign. Get as many points as we can but for all dreamers like myself, the World Cup one is gone for another 4 years.

I wouldn't even entertain any talk on second spot. It was completely over after the Luxembourg loss.

Finishing 3rd over 4th is vital in terms of of keeping the players firmly behind the manager. It may not make much difference regarding seedings but I wouldn't underestimate the brutal optics of us potentially finishing behind Luxembourg and second last in a 5 team group.
