Probably won't happen but of course you never know but what impact on the rankings would an Ireland win or a draw have on our ranking?

Clap

Would have felt very indifferent if we had to play Bosnia.
I don't understand how training against Engand is different to training against anybody else, apart from the rankings. It's absolutely stupid that FIFA expect training matches to take place, even by their standards.

Looking forward to it but rankings are a concern I suppose but money probably overrides that concern.  Don’t fancy the Swiss in pot 2 or Germany if they drop into it.

Correct.

From world ranking thread

Great Confused a win is worth 6.84, a draw 1.84 and a loss -3.16
To put that into perspective, a win against Luxembourg would have given us 3

I dont care how we play, even if we have 1 percent possession as long as we dont lose. 35 years, better not be broken here.

Unlucky Stephen won't be looking forward tot his game.

Sounds good : a chance to test ourselves under Kenny. We've mostly played average second / third tier teams recently, it will be good to come up against a stronger opponent for a change.

Dropping to pot3 will probably better reflect where we are at the moment.

The longer term strategy sees us wanting to play thr best teams, not just New Zealand and Oman.

A desperate attempt to cling on to pot2 is not a strategy.

Playing England will be a massive test and highlight key areas for improvement against top teams. Likely we'll lose but its all part of the learning curve for some of the new players coming through.

You don't honestly think u can get a draw against England.  We battered wales with our second string team.

Will you be saying that after a 4-0 loss and the anti Kenny brigade out in force? Then we have pot 3 to look forward to in December.

I don't think it's possible to look forward to something after it's happened.

This isn't FIFA, it's UEFA.

And as I've tried to tell you, UEFA want as many internationals as possible - it's a huge part of their revenue and influence, as well as (generally) pleasing their Member Associations.

Personally I think Friendlies during a pandemic are ridiculous, but from ROI's pov, England is an obvious choice, since the ROI players all play there (or in Scotland), Wembley is suitable for "bubble" purposes, and it's handy then for the Wales game.

Can't for the life of me understand how still nobody in the FAI considers how the games we play impact on our rankings. We should be playing a beatable team at home to try and improve our ranking - The game against England is just stupid.
