I'm still wondering why Portugal were listed with Azerbaijan as distant countries but Ireland weren't. It'll be two very long trips for Azerbaijan.

Because Portugal is further away from Azerbaijan than Ireland

How do you figure that? You must have a different map to me LOL

If you want, draw a line from Ireland to Portugal to Azerbaijan and you'll see it's like a triangle. We are slightly further away.

The earth is a globe, straight lines don’t work.

Just came on to point that out and apologize for my mistake LOL

Even still though, it's a very similar distance. Azerbaijan are unlucky, distance wise. If they care LOL

A simple google search will answer your own question! You’ve had a nightmare here.

I’d say they are used to it, sure most trips are huge for them, an extra hour or two won’t make much difference.

So two games in March, two in September, two in October and two in November presumably, or how will it work in a five team group if one team had to be idle on every match night?

Did the overnight train from Baku to Tbilisi. Never again.

No doubt FAI will want all away matches first so they can try and get home matches in front of crowds. Stephen Kenny will want the opposite so can try and get points on the board early in the campaign.

Would have loved to have flown to Tehran and made my way up to Baku, but logistically probably impossible.

From memory when I last went to Tbilisi and was considering Baku as an alternative option,  Turkish airlines were the main routes via Istanbul

And Lufthansa via Frankfurt it’s about 2hours and then 4.5 that way.

Main problem with flights at the minute is there is only going to likely be what, 20% of the usual flight schedules on sale / available? Not that I will be booking anything straight away with what has gone on this year, but its always nice to get potential routes lined up.

It's not up to the FAI or SK to negotiate fixtures. Fixtures are set by computer these days.
