Kalvin Philips has Irish roots. Confirmed by his mother on Twitter. Jamaica trying to persuade him to declare for them. Ehh I wouldn't usually be one to beg but I think it would be hilarious after losing out on Rice to get a better DM instead LOL  He could be dangling carrot for England but honestly as  leeds fan I absolutely love KP LOL

Do you have a link?
You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Few articles about his dual Jamaican/English status, but no mention of Ireland.

Hardly worth a thread of his own at this stage, it reads purely as levering England to me, much as Wilson did and that worked

He's over 3 years older than Rice and has only ever played in the Championship thus far, perhaps a bit of a stretch to suggest he's better. In any case, if he is eligible then he's one we've missed out on, because there's not a hope in hell he'll be declaring with Leeeds just having been promoted.
We're decent enough..

I don't think Wilson ever claimed to be eligible for Ireland, O'Neill just suggested he might be. In fact I believe Wilson was actually the one who subsequently confirmed he had no Irish links.

KP is quality. Can’t see him playing for us but he would be an upgrade on what’s currently there

He is Jamaican on his dads side so must be his mum maybe. No doubt he is more English or Jamaican and he is very close to a call u in the next year. And yes I think he is better than Rice. Stating that as an opinion and not a fact. 1 year or 2 of prem football and under Bielsa and he takes Rice's place who I just dont rate. England is short on DM's so I suspect he will be capped very soon.

If he is in fact eligible then I agree with you. He is a very good player though.

So according to Kalvin’s mum he does have an Irish grandparent. So, legitimately eligible it seems

I’d imagine he’ll be in an England squad soon. Hypothetically, if he did declare for us then he would certainly suit Kennys style of play

He'll be in the next England squad. He was the best player in the championship last season. Big career ahead of him. I can't remember when a highly touted young English born player  who played for us ahead of England.
