He was probably engrossed in his anti foreign sport propaganda rally, aka Kilkenny v Tipperary played in Jones Road, while we were trying to win our professional patriotic match in Georgia for 3 points, helping us to get to France. There's no real point arguing the toss in a pub on such a day. The parochial pastimes of Miley and Paidi on boghockey final Sunday, will always win out over any other competition. Ditto clashes with Ireland Six Nations games. Aside from that, watching games in pubs is rarely fun. There's either a TV on with no sound, blaring music drowning out whatever sound there is, a load of punters yapping so loudly that you can't hear what's going on, or alternatively no other punters, making the bored bar staff wonder why you're still there watching the game instead. Watching EPL games in pubs on foreign language stations is all of the above, and you need the patience of job to put up with it. Edited by planning - 08 May 2020 at 6:58pm |

Sky never bother me as I'm not really into the Premier League etc. I'm happy with Match of the Day. When they got the GAA rights that really annoyed me. You're essentially paying for one match and then six days of cricket.
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Sussex have scored a wicket against Kent.

Think I go to the pub to watch sport for one of two reasons.
1. It's a big match and if I'm watching it with the kids at home they'll be interrupting me. 2. The match is just an excuse to see some friends

Not everywhere, I was down in rural Wexford a few years playing the local team in a cup match. After the match we headed to their local for a few pints and to watch the Sunday Sky game. When we got to the pub, the telly wasn't on. The local radio was on with commentary of a local hurling match. When one of our lads asked, he was told the telly would be put on when the hurling match was over.

I hate watching matches in pubs and I rarely do it. Got in a row watching Georgia v Ireland 2014 game, McGeady scored twice. Some other fckin knob started at it when I was watching the 2017 CL final, Juve v Real Madrid. Arseholes seem to feel the need to start talking to me on my rare journeys to pubs while a match is on.

If you really want to immerse yourself into a game then the pub is not the place to go. You miss too much of the detail and action.
But pints and the craic.
