I remember RTÉ had cameras in pubs - a classic line from an ole ole woman in the clocktower pub in kinsgswood after the match was “we wouldn’t have won only for Kevin Sheedy”

I've watched all 12 opening group games of the 1990 WC (in full) recently.
This is easily the worst of them. Spain 0-0 Uruguay runs its close though. West Germany 4-1 Yugoslavia Italy 1-0 Austria (Italy should have won about 10-0) Brazil 2-1 Sweden were the best of the opening games.

I take it you haven’t a dog to walk 3 times a day or go running like the rest of us 😉

I remember Czechoslovakia putting in a brilliant performance battering the States. Skuhravy in his pomp.

My first WC was 1994 so I'm just curious to learn about old football and games before I started watching.

That was decent too, but the US were crap and so goals game from mistakes and poor defensive play. Scotland Costa Rica wasn't too bad either, well in a comedy sense.

All back to Gazza's minibar for Newcastle brown ale and mars bars so.. he didn’t get much of a sniff here although he was some player in fairness . Edited by Rodneytrotter - 01 May 2020 at 9:22pm |

Recorded it tonight, was watching that Netflix show about the Chicago Bulls at the time.
Would it be hard to sit through again? Was 7 at the time, watched it in my uncles garage which was converted with a big screen and sofas in. Great memories

Yes...it’s awful.like has been said it’s hard to watch sober and football has moved on greatly since then(the backpass rule),the ref for me was terrible that night and added to a poor game.also it’s hard to believe England got as far as they did in 90...they were as hoof ball v us that night, they had waddle,Gaza,Barnes and Robson in midfield and 80% of the time they either misplaced passes or just hoofed it.anyway...watch the first half then delete it.
