Well hopefully those that have tickets where the person whose name is on it can no longer attend, will actually return them to the FAI and not pass/sell them onto to someone else.....

that welsh fa tread states that 65% of the fans that were turned away had photocopy of their passports and that was that’s why they didn’t get in.....and that some turned away had harvested the tickets.i can’t really see a problem here,a lot of lads on here causing something out of nothing.

the police at both games against Slovakia was massive and well armed and wouldn’t stand for any messing.

Yeah but that's different to this. Lads were just doubling up going through the Stiles. This is going to be if the name doesn't match the ID you'll be refused. It's a common practise in Europe now. Wales was really lax as was Geneva barely any checks

Anybody remember lads sneaking into Cardiff a few years back? Lads passed tickets back to be checked by the stewards and then they doubled up on the turnstile as far as I remember.

Went to Slask Wroclaw v Wisla Krakow last November names were printed on the tickets and checked against our passports at the turnstiles.

Don't see why people think this won't happen. Bring some form of ID and you'll be fine.
If you have a ticket that doesn't have your name on it, well sorry but chances are you shouldn't have it in the first place as it was gotten using someone else's record or it's been sold on both of which shouldn't happen.

In a game in Poland in December and they checked every ticket and passport going into the ground, so it is done in some places.

I know people think they will never check names on a ticket, but it can happen. I was in Rome for Celtic v Lazio and they were very strict and checked everyone's id. Granted it was a 'high risk' game so apples and oranges and all that

In the case that someone can’t travel at even shorter notice, which would be a very small number, the option to return these to the FAI would remain open until a few days or so before the game. After that then yes, there is the chance a few tickets would remain unsued, but this is a risk with any game and is unfortunate but it happens. I’d politely suggest that you or whoever you are referencing, contact the TO and ask them directly to put you out of your misery.

I've also been in many a game where my id has been checked and I have just crossed out the original name and written my own. Happens all the time with Celtic.

Yes, Rob Phillips and his sidekicks said there was 1 turnstile open and that they were checking ID Think i misread this bit, assumed Rob Phillips was some FAW blazer

It 100% happened to the Welsh in Croatia but there was nothing about them being checked in Trnava until the last week or so as the story grew legs as far as I know and seen on a Welsh Facebook that they didn’t get checked in Slovakia but who knows as its in a newish stadium in Bratislava now so it could happen. Anyone that’s been to games around Europe knows that it’s common enough certainly in Italy where I have even checked before and also surprising Austria too for a Rapid Vienna game so it does happen.
