Would she just stick it out for another 3 months then take up the jab after the baby is born ?

We've discussed this at length. Been safe up until now etc. but there were 500 cases yesterday, it hasnt dropped significantly and the risk of covid vs the vaccine (antibodies only) far outweigh the jab. It's just that she literally only registered and has been called immediately. Great efficiency in fairness but gives us little time to reconsider.

Right now, we are going for it Thumbs Up

Maybe a quick ring to her doctor could put her mind at rest . Look the cases were always going to rise as we opened up that was forseen .

To be very honest it's a massive question when you think about your unborn .

Murph the doctor is only going to say the recommendation is to get it as the risk from covid is higher than the any risk if there is from the vaccine.

As we open up there are more opportunities to pick up the virus over the next few weeks until at least the end of July.

You would have to do level 5 on yourself otherwise imo.

Ultimately the decision is for the person themselves as it is their body.   But I would be pro vaccine as I think the risks are lower with the vaccine than with Covid.

Well done Boris. Will be stuck on fookin plague island for the rest of the year at this rate. Disapprove

Wasn't it the Austrians that caused loads of damage last year by not closing their precious ski resorts.

People in England who live in Lancashire, Leicester or North Tyneside are back in lockdown again due to the Indian variant.

They literally didn't tell anyone about it, they just updated their Gov.Uk website about it and hoped everyone in the country reads it. Lost for words how half-arsed that is! LOL

Incorrect.

Directors of public health from all eight councils have now released a statement saying: "Following the national coverage of recently revised guidance we have met with national officials and confirmed there are no restrictions on travel in or out of each of our areas: There are no local lockdowns."

Not incorrect at all. Confused

They had to come out and clarify literally 13 minutes ago from writing this, 4 days after they updated. Which is the point everyone's making!

Then maybe's they shouldn't update their guidances without telling anybody with do not travel notices. And then take 4 days to clarify what's going on.

Again, missed the point completely.

Having a mare here Roberto.

Coyne is correctly saying that the website did say that those areas were in lockdown, and they did.

The UK gov then did correct that.

The Uk gov website was incorrect, Coyner was correct

Looks like the vaccines are suppressing the death toll from the indian variant in the UK by up to 75%. Excellent protection provided with two doses but significantly lower protection from one. The vast majority in hospitals with it have not had the vaccine.

Its spreading like wildfire through young people with it now the dominant variant in the UK. The fear is if even only a small percentage of young people need hospitalisation then it could potentially overwhelm the health service.

Fingers crossed it doesn't take hold in Ireland before the country reaches herd immunity though immunisation. It would be good to get an update later today on vaccine rollout figures.

hopefully a shield against this (hospitalisations) in the UK is... 4.5m recorded cases in the uk to date with about 3m since December giving a large number of the young immunity via infection by Kent (were so polite not labelling it the English variant - Kent makes is sound so quaint and rural) variant.

What are the rules on travel from Britain at the moment - can anyone jump in their car and get the ferry across here?

Edit: An urgent issue here is getting the 2nd dose to our healthcare staff who had the AZ one and are now waiting on 2nd jab. 1 dose only gives 33% efficacy against Indian variant which is not a good situation.

The borders are open. Nothing stopping people from travelling to/from Britain.
