.....Anyway

Did we hit 100k vaccinations for the week?

According to COVID18DataIE on twitter there were 350,322 doses administered on Saturday the 20th - https://twitter.com/COVID19DataIE/status/1364167123409326083 - by Friday that was up to 426,070 - https://twitter.com/COVID19DataIE/status/1366340443101929472 - so 75,748 in the six days to Friday.
The numbers for Saturday will be released tomorrow, but if they only averaged 10,821 per day (75,748 / 7) last week, it'll probably only be around 85k-87k for the week
88k hit.
Next weeks target downgraded to 90k
UK did 450k last Friday alone
WE need to stop comparing our vaccinations to the UK, they have a completely separate delivery strategy, we're part of the EU's strategy, and we're doing pretty well compared to the other countries

I understand that you can’t directly compare but for scale their figures are important.

Well we can't vaccinate people when we don't have the vaccines. Comparing us in anyway to the UK is pretty pointless, they have secured more vaccines and started 5 weeks earlier.

I'd be very surprised if any of the Irish vaccines centres are close to maximum vaccination capacity.

I really hope the WHO can help prevent countries from vaccine hoarding and that after the next few months have passed that the poorest countries start getting decent amounts of vaccines delivered. With slow infrastructures many of these countries will take 2-3 years to get their populations vaccinated.

I don't have much hope that they can.

you can’t judge the Irish vaccination numbers until the supply chain is going full tilt which should be the last week in March .
One City,One County,One Club GUFC will be back.

it will probably be the lowest this week as Mondays and Tuesday are often Low due to lower presentations at the weekend but it is heading in the right direction slowly.

Given Texas now has no electricity to run their electric chair they have to find an alternative way of killing people off

My mother got vaccinated this morning, must’ve been a delivery yesterday to all local GPs as the over 85s are taking over the streets.
Great to see

Not good news from Brazil.
Are they though? I thought it would only take scientists a few weeks to repurpose a vaccine for new variants. I must find the original article but a vaccine for covid only took a few weeks to develop. Obviously testing etc took longer.
