Am I right in saying no legislation can be passed as the Seanad election isn't over?

Ffs...

Yep, can see all the people whose relatives unfortunately pass away from this virus loving the name of the show.

They really haven't thought this one through.

Exactly - the name of the show is completely ridiculous is only likely to age horrifically over time as the situation deteriorates.

If they really wanted to do something like this why not call it 'Operation Isolation'? It reeks of a group of recent marketing graduates getting together in the RTE canteen and attempting to leverage off the ubiquity of the disease's name.

Dancing with the SARS?

With most people getting infected but not reporting it - when the worst is over will they be able to test if you got it previously? The high at risk can't self isolate for months and months
It would damage this forums' reputation

Yes I can imagine that type of reaction from people but Im talking from National governments standpoint, will finger pointing start, will countries run with a theory that it was a planned outbreak, again just tin foil hat stuff, it will be interesting to see the standpoint of countries in the aftermath of this

Well i think these f**king wet markets (culture or not) need to be binned.

I think people will give them a swerve after this anyway and shy away from (as TJ put it) a scorpion lolly.

They've effectively brought the world to its knees and changed the future of people interaction forever. Normal life will simply not be the same after this.

Was that not how the SARS epidemic started? If so, then the Chinese clearly never learned their lesson which is why I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the world really gets pissed off with them this time.

As you say, those 'wet markets' need to stop and hopefully people there will start taking little (or preferably nothing) to with them. Hopefully other governments will put pressure on the Chinese government to ban them which should go a long way towards ensuring we never get a global sh*t storm like this again.

I really dont think they will allow these markets as they may go underground at best . Trust me the there will not mess around with fines if people are caught .
But we will get over this and we will get back to normal just hope we dont lose too many of us before then .

Any chance they'll reduce the demand for the likes of Rhino horn, Tiger Penis, Ivory etc etc as medicinal or vanity products
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Not as if those markets were an unknown either. It was well documented that they were a massive risk and the WHO were constantly warning the Chinese govt that their wildlife policies are negligible and can lead to a serious outbreak

As far as I know It only tells you whether you have it or don’t have it at time of testing .

That's current testing, surely after the peak there will be this option available. Imagine staying indoors for another year and find out you had it all along with no symptoms. Same with health workers, or any of us wanting to visit our elders.

I see the willows pub in finglas or part of it was on fire last night, I think a lot of publicans and shop owners will be trying to board up their premises as a precaution
