Talk that the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine in people who are obese drops hugely.   Has not been peered reviewed yet but if true will cause big issues.

where are you reading this - until I see a well regarded writer / publication Id caution and suggest it’s an anti vax rumour.

Usually defined as BMI of 30 and above but as most people know BMI is far from a perfect indicator.  I think in the uk those with BMI of 40 and above are being prioritized along with others with health issues.

Anyway the Italian study is fair small so we will see.  There is no peer review full study as of yet.

Wow that’s brilliant news.

2.2M doses would cover everybody at high risk and then some.
Hopefully they can get them out in a few weeks by having mass vaccines sites.

Read that article yesterday, thought I was being jocular. Obviously didn't make a big impression.

Could they not potentially be isolating at home pending the result?

Yes but the other major risk factor is they don't know how she got from A to B - If she used a cab, a tube, or bus.
And because they don't know who it is they can't trace.

So, what you are in fact saying is there are a lot of unknowns here - Right?
A comment like "Looking possible that the UK's all-in hand is now looking like a busted hand." would indicate some sort of clear indication of this being the case.

Would it not be best to wait and see what actually happens and then panic when there is a reason to panic? Worrying in advance does nobody any favours.

Coyner, who lives in the UK, desperately wants the UK to fail.

What does all in even mean? Every major country is doing the same - get the current vaccine out as quickly as possible.
It’s the best possible play right now.

We really don’t know if the Brazil variant bypasses the current vaccines completely.

Sorry ZK Donnelly said we can't call it that as it smacks of the racist card , so it's BZUMLXONT18935924 .  Easy one to remember .

Pretty sure it's not 2.2 million by end of March, 2.2 million is the total order.

J&J is scheduled for 600k doses in Q2

That sounds more realistic.

"200 million J&J vaccines have been promised before the end of March to the EU and Ireland is set to receive 2.2 million doses. This raises such questions as who should receive which vaccine and what makes it different from the other vaccines."

Did we hit 100k vaccinations for the week?

According to COVID18DataIE on twitter there were 350,322 doses administered on Saturday the 20th - https://twitter.com/COVID19DataIE/status/1364167123409326083 - by Friday that was up to 426,070 - https://twitter.com/COVID19DataIE/status/1366340443101929472 - so 75,748 in the six days to Friday.
The numbers for Saturday will be released tomorrow, but if they only averaged 10,821 per day (75,748 / 7) last week, it'll probably only be around 85k-87k for the week
88k hit.
Next weeks target downgraded to 90k
UK did 450k last Friday alone

Due to a delay in two AZ delivery,

89K or there about done last week instead of 100k.

This week circa 88k instead of 92k.

AZ expected to deliver the delayed order for next week with no overall impact on March targets according to HSE.

No figures published for next week yet and wont be until Thursday during the weekly press conference, HSE say the impact of AZ delivery delay to be mostly caught up with next week.

WE need to stop comparing our vaccinations to the UK, they have a completely separate delivery strategy, we're part of the EU's strategy, and we're doing pretty well compared to the other countries
