Sorry, but the key public interest in the programme has to be maximising vaccination, and eliminating waste in its entirety. That is the perfection that needs to be achieved. The "practical solutions" that are being slung around this morning are not necessarily as practical as they seem. Frontline workers are not always readily available, vaccinations are not necessarily easy to transport, and time is of the essence. The article speaks to other efforts being made, before the 16 were administered, and that time would have been a factor in terms of degradation of the vaccine. I concede that the optics are not great, and I accept that the Master deemed it worth of issuing an apology. But I won't for one second accept that the public interest wasn't served, in this case. The only lesson that could possibly be learned is better optics, which in my eyes is no lesson.

I’m basically referring to the crowd that get outraged at everything and have loads to say about everything and can’t be pleased. I saw a a picture of 2 polls taken in the last 6 weeks ( could be made up) The first one was should the government open up the county for Christmas and it was roughly 70% yes 30% no And after Christmas the question was the government right to open the county for Christmas and this time roughly 30% yes And 70% no It just shows some people’s mind sets

You could have a similar poll for the Budget. People will say 70% yes to tax cuts and 70% to spending increases. Bigger issue at the moment is the arrival of untested workers from Brazil .

Such a nothing story. People would be complaining if they were discarded. Fair play to the hospital for making sure they were used

My sister was called and told there might be a vaccine for her last week as some of the other staff had cancelled their jabs, as it happens there wasn't and she is still waiting for it. Staff not been available to get their vaccine at their allotted time is very common. So I can understand how there will be spares left over at other hospitals. I'm sure there is some skullduggery going on but overall i'd be inclined to think it's a tiny minority and it's been administered fairly. Better used then in the bin

Taoiseach has said program is going well and we are ahead of targets but still no numbers.
Infection numbers down a good bit todady. Encouraging. Positivity rate also decreasing. |

About 140,000 people are expected to be vaccinated by next Sunday. This will be made up of about 70,000 healthcare workers and approximately 70,000 residents and staff of long-care facilities. It is expected about 1.8m people will receive an injection in the second quarter of this year and a further 1.8 million in the third quarter. However, these projections are based on vaccines which have not yet been approved From RTE |

After seeing the outrage to these stories today; it would be some entertainment seeing the reaction if we went down the Indonesian route prioritising the young as they are more likely to contract the virus.
Not a great look and hard on those waiting but things will move

Great news that GPs and pharmacies will be part of this process from early next month. Hopefully many of our parents will be vaccinated in their community by their family GP.
