How many times does he have to say there’s nothing Ireland and America can’t do. It seems like he’s saying the same thing over and over again.

Putting policy and ideology aside for a second, sure to god the yanks on both sides of the aisle can do better than a 77 year old an an 80 year old as their next presidential nominies.
Biden, as much as I think he's a genuine person with a very strong record in his 40 odd years of public service, needs to be put out to pasture at this stage. There are moments when it's hard to take him seriously anymore. As for Trump, we'll that would be an even bigger disaster

It's not a thing at all, always talked about but carries little weight. LPT of second/third generation plus Irish Americans would vote Republican

Most of the commentators of this trip have said Irish American isn't a voting block in itself.

Did a study on it as part of my masters, few years ago now so don't have any of the source material to hand unfortunately. |

I think as the generations come and go then people's voting intentions are less about where their family originally came from and more about personal circumstances. My friend's wife, as a example, would have Irish heritage on both sides of here family and there is a total mish-mash of Democrat and Republican supporters amongst them.

It's more about getting the Irish Democrat vote out. Most people in the US are on one side or the other - the American side of my family won't be changing what party they support based on this visit (generally the older ones vote republican, the younger ones vote democrat). US elections are generally won and lost based on which side does a better job of getting their vote out on election day. This is about showing the Irish-American Democratic Party support base that Biden sees himself as one of them so that they will actually go out and cast their vote on election day and not stay home out of apathy.

That’s a fair analysis. The GOP meanwhile is doing an excellent job of energising the opposition, with a burgeoning youth vote likely to be as significant as the countless women motivated to vote for the Democratic Party because of the Roe/ Wade judgement. The recent events in Tennessee and elsewhere have also galvanised black and liberal voters. It’s also one scandal after another for the Republicans and their MAGA loons these days.

On a more trivial note. Biden’s ancestral family name is Blewitt. Quite apt for Mayo.

You seem to take issue with protests that don't align with what you believe. Not a very democratic outlook is it

It would damage this forums' reputation
