It’s an uncomfortable truth for some, but Irish politics is a lot more accountable than many other countries.

In what way? He's essentially stepping down from his "extras" until they find a committee job for him to replenish his income.

He gets to keep his ministerial pension and accruals.

In his head, he's doing the "honourable" thing which gives him some hope of a comeback down the line.

Accountable is right.

Ministerial resignation is the first line. I don’t necessarily agree that it is sufficient accountability, but it’s indicative that a position of ministerial responsibility is no longer tenable.

His economic style wouldn't be my cup of tea but he is a really asset to the unity campaign because he articulates a not so traditional republican voice in support of unity. It would be very easy for the like of him to close his ears to the chatter.

It's a strange one. Like the people that vote for Michael Lowry must be thick.

Indeed they must. Or, not give one sh*te about honesty.

That 'Rags to Richmond' twitter skit with that painfully unfunny coont was unforgivable cringe. Dead

storm in a teacup regarding pascals forgotten expenses really, paltry sum in the whole election cost and easily missed I’d say.
I’d be more concerened that the lad who paid for this later got appointed to a state body, now that’s not on even though they all do it, needs to be stopped.

What an absolute cluster fook of a country we are,
paying investment firms for social housing
how are kids ever supposed to buy a home
no encouragement to work for a living

there will be a brain drain on this country and the tech firms will leave
social housing is required i get that but giving business to investment firms to block middle class earners from the market is a car crash

Yes because not declaring the small things leads to bigger things and weve had morebthan our fair share already as a state. Just look at that FGer Damian English, involved in planning issues while in government yet made false planning declarations. Your attitude is why we have had in the past and continue to have these chancers and spoofers.

Ah everyone pretends to be so high and mighty these days. I dont like this thing of scraping the smallest things from peoples past to try and destroy them. Who hasnt told a white lie on forms through their lives or veered away from company procedures to actually get things done. There wud be nobody left in any company of everything was done by the letter of the law. I can accept a big scandal but nowadays its any little tiny thing to get someone fired.
