There's three international windows in Sept, Oct and Nov with the seniors and 21's playing in all three. I imagine we're only looking at Sept for now so plenty of time in Oct and Nov to get Smallbone into the senior setup this calendar year, if he shows promise in the PL at the start of the delayed season.

I hadn't realised U-21 players weren't Irish.

If you think this guy will declare for us then it is quite clear you would give Daniel Day Lewis a run for his money if My Left Foot was ever filmed again.

Kenny praised both Smallbone and Will Ferry in recent interview, also Southampton as a club good at developing young players and giving them a chance. Ferry was on their bench last time out with Smallbone, Long and Obafemi. I don't know what his Irish ancestry is as he was born in England but he a left sided winger whom Kenny clearly rates.

Had similar one or two matches ago and only Long got on for the last 20.
I think they were winning that one though so less inclined to make changes when you are wining I spose. Hopefully we see some Smallbone action in this game :) |

He’s listed as being a tan on the premier league site, but wouldn’t read too much into that |

It's worked well with Michael Obafemi, both he and his parents were delighted by that early cap and the other nations he was eligible to play for can only look on now as his Premiership career takes off. Smallbone is another for a potential fast track and the Irish influence at Southampton is surely helpful if he is thinking of wavering. Stephen Kenny will know the score and do what's best.

He was actually quite adamant recently saying well my mum is actually fully Irish so I do think this lad will be fine. I have actually noticed a trend that most of these lads pick their mothers country in a push.
