The EIRE v England match in the 1990 world cup is widely considered to be one of the worst matches in world cup history.

EIRE v Egypt was worseCool

Could easily be the worst ever. Football never broke out during it at all. Played in horrendous weather with Gary Lineker sh1tting himself in the middle of it. That's pretty special.

The English bookies have now installed England as favourites because their group draw is among the easiest. Last 16 looking tough though. It'll all end in tears for them as usual probably, in Dublin hopefully.
Maybe they'll have a go at wrecking Lansdown road mark two for the 25th anniversary.

They will probably riot in facking Dablin

Hungary will be in Germany's group, and Romania in Nederland's group, so it depends who qualifies from playoff A (Iceland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania).

You can’t be saying that! It is only English hype, delusion and arrogance that has them favourites. We will beat them in the second round.

Poland basing themselves here for the tournament seemingly. Made enquiries about Carton House according to Dan McDonnell
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn

That's not surprising. However, you'd imagine that that is only for the group stages and if they go further than that that they'll just have somewhere in those host cities. The paths out of the group are not great (last sixteen and quarter final pairs):

3rd place: Bilbao - Munich
3rd place: Budapest - Baku
Runner up: Copenhagen - St Petersburg
Winner: Glasgow - Rome

Certainly for the Budapest and Copenhagen paths, they'd be better based in Poland. Maybe, though, teams only need to organise venues for their group games. Maybe UEFA have a set up for the knockout games with venues booked for the competing teams. Given the format, that would make sense; of course, often that doesn't come into it.

What do you mean by "Copenhagen - St Petersburg" and "Glasgow - Rome"? Is the winner/runner up not guaranteed to be playing their last 16 match in a certain location?

The runner up from Group E will play their last 16 match in Copenhagen. If they win that, they will play their quarter final in St Petersburg.

As so forth.

There is 1E v 3A/B/C/D etc for the last 16, because there will only be 4 of the  6 teams placed 3rd getting to the last 16. But I have looked at it from all the different options of which group qualifies and it still doesn't determine which venue each 3rd placed team will play in it. How will Uefa decide which team plays which?

Page 19 there. Of the 10 possible combinations where third place in Group E finishes among the best four third placed teams, in 5 they play their last 16 game in Bilbao (against the winner of Group B / likely Belgium) and in 5 they play their last 16 game in Budapest (against the winner of Group C / likely Netherlands).

Fantastic, thanks. No idea how they calculated it considering it's not possible from the chart/image of the fixtures.

Thing that made me laugh during the draw when Pedro Pinto said this Euros puts the fans at he very centre of the tournament. LOL  Thank you SO MUCH, Michel Platini.

Serious question: would it have been so bad if Turkey hosted Euro 2020?
