Cahill treating Limerick like a shot to nothing, experimental team with 9 changes from last game named, and not a lot of experience on bench either. Think he'll be hoping to find a few players he can rely on later on in the year rather than having any realistic hope of winning the game.
Good approach in theory anyway, very similar to what Cody repeatedly does with KK, picks relatively unheralded lads out of nowhere and challenges them to perform in a tough game. For us, they don't come tougher than Limerick in GG, I don't think we've won a game there in at least 4 decades. Much like last week, be happy enough avoiding a thrashing and then see where we are V Wex or KK in QFs. |

Poor oul game in tough weather conditions, way too many rugby type scrums, though some good scores here & there, mainly by Limerick. Not too bad of a result for us considering the lack of experience, other than C.Gleeson, Mahony and J Barron, I reckon none of the rest of the team had more than 10 senior appearances for us, so to hold Limerick to 4 points at their home ground (and allowing for the fact Limerick switched off 5 mins before end of game) was an OK result.
Galway win tomorrow and we play KK next, if Tipp win we play Wexford, both tough games. Can't fault our workrate in any game, but we are lacking scoring forwards or 'go-to' forwards who will score 3 or 4 points from play regardless of opposition. Think this will prove an issue in the championship, but given the low base we are coming from, the increased workrate and better attitude is at least a start. |

presume the inter county season is over for the year ......just aswell as john Conlon is after doing his cruciate,we’re going absolutely nowhere with all the players we would have been missing.

Should run it at a straight knockout in August/September. Take the top 16 teams from last year's league (as this year's is incomplete, but much the same teams make up that number anyway), have an open draw, 4 games for the 2 teams who get to final, that's it.
Abandon Rackard and Ring cups, send the remainder of hurling teams into the Joe McDonagh and play in same knockout format so there is a champion there too. I'm not stating this is a great solution or anything, but it would be better than nothing, and relatively few games to sort it all out, could be done in 6 weeks- Opening round, 2nd round, break, SF, break, Final. |

Really hard to plan without knowing when things will be back to normal, or the new normal anyway but that is probably the best idea. or else just do the old style provincial championships with 4 semis.
Could see Antrim and Galway going for that idea

A humdinger of a game in a packed Thurles. One of the greatest games and Waterford came out on the right side of it. Loved listening to Sean óg talking about it on Dan Shanahan's 'Laochra Gae'l and in particular Paul Flynns goal. A real game for the ages and as good a display as there was from that great Waterford team.

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Love to get a crack off Cork. Think we have the beating of them anyday. TDB back and will prob slip into centre half back. Gleeson looking trim for the 1st time since 2017. If we stay away from Limerick i'd give us a decent shout of coming out of Munster.

happy with the draw and great chance to get to the final but Cork can be quite dangerous esp with Kingston back at the helm. Hopefully be allowed into the stadium. Other side of the draw is very interesting with any one of the 3 teams capable of making it to the final
Kilkenny jammy again in the Leinster draw but interesting draw. Galway vs Wexford will be good and are Laois actually better than Dublin or was year a fluke ? QF- Laois vs Dublin SF- Galway vs Wexford, Kilkenny vs Laois/Dublin Edited by Healy52003 - 26 Jun 2020 at 7:32pm |
