f**king storm denis disrupting matters and postponing Limerick vs waterford and Galway vs Tipp. Possibly be played next weekend moving everything back a week

In the games that were played this weekend in horrendous conditions there was a win for Cork against Westmeath in the only 1A game. In 1B Dublin and Clare too good for Carlow and Laois respectively. The wexford vs Kilkenny game sounded like a good tough game with Davy getting another over Cody

A bit of a crunch weekend in 1B up next with Dublin vs Wexford and Kilkenny vs Clare. Also Laois vs Carlow with the loser going into the relegation playoff against Westmeath

We have to wait and see what 1A games will be played next weekend. If they keep as scheduled then round 4 is Waterford vs Galway, Cork vs Limerick and Tipp vs Westmeath

Dublin Wexford in CP tomorrow night (early throw in)- Wexford narrowly is my guess. Laois V Carlow as well, really a 'who stays out of relegation playoff' game, Laois should win.

Sunday brings Cork & limerick in Cork- Limerick the better team, but they seem to have a bit of bother with Cork these days. Going to go for Cork here with one of their odd good performances that seem to arrive out of nowhere.
WD V Galway in what will be a wet & windy Walsh Park, going to go for home win for us there, on nothing much more than a good record V Galway in general.
KK V Clare in Nowlan, hard to bet against KK in Nowlan, regardless of opposition.

Jesus walking out of Walsh Park today in a game which we didnt deserve to win but scrapped it in the end mainly due to Galway not shooting right and missing some key players  (Canning, the burke's and mannion going off injured early). Aussie and Barron returned for Waterford but were little rusty. Still happy with the 2 points and 3 wins from 3 but the next 2 games will be massive tests with trips to Tipp and the rescheduled Limerick game. Limerick went very well over Cork and Tipp back to there best today. For Waterford we are hoping of a win/draw over Tipp or in worst case Galway beating Cork as it eliminates Cork and Waterford go through to the QFs at least

Next weekend in 1A Limerick as good as through cause they face Westmeath next week, Cork and Galway have another chance of saving there campaign facing each other and Tipp vs Waterford

Some very entertaining games in 1B this weekend. Wexford beating Dublin  in the last few mins and Laois surviving against Carlow (who now go into a relegation playoff vs Westmeath). Clare and Kilkenny play out a draw

Last set of games in 1B next weekend. Laois vs Kilkenny, Wexford vs Carlow and Clare vs Dublin. Overall looking very good for Clare to top the group but Dublin will want to show what there capable off but sadly for them a lot of things have to go there way to progress to the next round (beat Clare and hope Laois beat Kilkenny) should be wins for Wexford and Kilkenny.

1B teams have a slight advantage for the next round as they will have a weekend off cause of the 1A rescheduled games

Scrappy enough win, but will take it. Tipp are probably the only team that can overtake us for 3rd, and need to beat both us and Galway to do that. We'll be ahead of both Cork & Galway on H to H should either finish level on points with us. Think the objective for the next 2 games is to be competitive and at least push Tipp & LK close, winning either would be bonus territory.

Laois got the win in horrendous conditions, strong winds and lashing rain. Pitch a bit of a mud bath considering it was the 3rd game in a week on it.

Tale of two players really, Kavanagh for Carlow and Ross King for Laois. But in saying that it was a game for digging deep and battling your way to the win with the conditions. No injuries for Laois was the bonus.

Laois now safe from any relegation playoff and with the pressure off should beat KK by a couple of points!!
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

despite the result pretty happy with Waterfords performance today against Tipp. Probley hard to look into with the all the sendings off but Waterford motoring well and nice to be guarnteed a knockout game Mays championship game could be electric. Free shot next saturday against Limerick with nothing to lose and if we somehow won it we would finsh top and into the semi finals. Westmeath seemed to play ok against Limerick and didnt get a real hammering that everyone thought they would, Galway beating Cork means Cork exit the league with a winner take all game next weeked in between Galway and Tipp.

Clare topping 1B and going into the semi finals with Wexford and Kilkenny getting the QF places. Relagation final is Westmeath vs Carlow with the 2A final to be determind next weekend with Offaly vs Antrim taking place in a refixed game, Kerry still very much in it but had a bad loss today against Antrim

Deise, why is it Westmeath were put in 1A? Would be like putting a div 3 team in football up to div 1 for getting promoted. The Carlow play off is in Mullingar so hopefully can get the win next weekend!

Laois put up a decent score against the cats and overall we would be fairly happy with the performances and no heavy beatings like Laois teams in the past. Particularly when we’re without some key players. Unfair on Westmeath alright and I still think the leagues were fairer the way they were. 1B had two of the bigger teams and four teams in or around the same level. It helped these teams to improve. Westmeath would have had more to play for if the leagues hadn’t been changed.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Happy enough with Sunday, not a bad result considering the numerical disadvantage and the fact we were playing Tipp. Bit of a free shot at Limerick too, albeit at a ground we never win at. QF V Wex or KK the most likely outcome.

They are likely changing the league format next year if these comments are anything to go by
https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/gaa/weather-forces-rethink-on-hurling-league-format-985104.html basically stating the weather has disrupted it for 3 years now and some games will need to be cut.

It's very hard to know what the correct format is from a Carlow/Westmeath/Kerry/Offaly/Antrim etc perspective, I don't think this format has done them any favours anyway, though Westmeath could have beaten Cork a few weeks back. Against that is the argument they won't get better playing weaker Div 2 opposition, but that gap is there, and besides Carlow drawing with Galway - was that last year or the year before? - and notably, Laois beating Dublin in the championship, results for those teams V the main contenders have been hard to come by regardless of format.

It will probably go back to something like it was before this change, with 2 X 5 team groups, so the winner of Carlow/Westmeath will be irrelevant, while Laois move into the trapdoor position for next year. Maybe they'll surprise us and do something radical.

Was done on finishing league positions last year- that was known in advance- but by something of a fluke, it effectively ended up being a Munster & Leinster split, with Westmeath and Clare being the odd ones out. Think that aspect should be an open draw meself, but they're probably afraid that would both work and prove popular enough to think about having the championship open draw too, which scares a lot of the traditionalists.

That was last year Carlow drew with Galway Marty Kavanagh scored most of their points that day mainly from placed balls from all over the field don’t think he missed any. Was a big boost to Carlow who Galway struggled with then in the championship as that’s the game that cost them getting knocked out on scoring difference in the round robin.

Last weekend of the group stages of the league with the rescheduled games taking place

Limerick vs Waterford Saturday night which has been moved to 5.30 for tv coverage. As a Waterford fan the thought of a game in the Gaelic Grounds brings back many past horrors but we have nothing to lose this time round and I'm hoping we put in a great performance. We can actually finish top if we win with Limerick only needing a draw to top the group and get that semi final spot. Limerick only came back from a training camp before last weeks game against Westmeath and showed with them only really killing them off near the end of the game but think they will be much sharper this weekend

Galway vs Tipp on Sunday is do or die with winner progressing to the QFs and loser ending there league campaign. This could go anyway but think Tipp will shade it

Wexford and Kilkenny await in the QFs with Clare in the semi finals. All team have a weekend off

Westmeath vs Carlow in the division 1 relegation playoff this weekend. Another one that is too close to call. I'll go for a close Westmeath win

Antrim already through to the Div 2 final but have to play Offaly away in a rescheduled game and a win for Offaly means a Antrim vs Offaly final but an Antrim win means it's a Antrim vs Kerry final. Really tricky situation for Antrim and Kerry having to wait around for the result not knowing there next move in there league campaign. Offaly to win by 6 points with a weakened Antrim team playing
