Didnt see the game but heard Waterford played decent enough today against Cork in the Munster league but losing by 4 points. Cork into the final and will face the winners of Clare vs Limerick in the final. A dead rubber in Kerry vs Waterford to be played next week also

Philip Mahony a huge loss for Waterford retiring at only 29 years of age
Amazing the way the game has gone with lads retiring so early

Not heard any reasons for this, but ya would have to suspect he was pushed rather than leaving voluntarily. Very dedicated chap by all accounts. Loss for us alright, solid defender, though not the quickest. Have to give Cahill the benefit of the doubt at this early stage, but with those few big calls made (Connors, M Shan, Phil Mahony) he's kind of put himself in a position where he will have to hit the ground running. |

Two cracking club semifinals today. Roll on the final.
Brendan Maher pointing from the sideline with a broken hurl... Unreal.

Sure we'll wobble along to WP tomorrow and see what happens. Not much expectations among the general WD public after the past 2 years. With a rake of new lads named (A Gleeson is out too by all accounts, despite being named) a new manager and a new style of play, we'll be mainly looking for performances rather than results in this year's league I think.
I'd like to congratulate Michael Duignan on his election to the chairmanship of his second favourite county as well, it might keep him and his '' I want to see a Tipp/KK final every year, with KK winning'' attitude off the TV for a bit longer than we're used to seeing over the last decade or so. Reddladd- no feckin YBIG hurling predictions league, what's going on ?? Happy enough to retire from it with 3 out of 6 imaginary YBIG trophies (should have been 4), but would have liked to give the rest of ye an oul chance this year all the same. Winners of the real thing ? Galway, if not them, Wexford. |

I travelled to Nowlan Park today not knowing what to expect after last years shambles and unfortunately after today’s performance it doesn’t seem as though we have learnt anything. Outplayed all over the park and that was with us having a spare man for most of the game. Short puck out strategy coughed up at least 1-3. Puck outs hit over the sideline on three occasions. Management way to slow to make changes yet again. I just don’t see any potential in this crop of players.

Time for another special multi million fund for Dublin hurling. Can't have the capital not winning more often.

Decent performance and result for us today, got off to a desperate start after the first 2 long balls hit in by Cork led to 2 goals for them in the opening 5 minutes, but we settled down after that and were really the better team from there until the last 5 mins, where Cork came back again and could have got the draw or even a win.
Nobody getting carried away, but the likes of Curran and Stephen Bennett played as well as they have done for 3 years, newcomers like Montgomery and Fagan did well in patches, though 18 yr old Iarlaith Daly was the standout of the new lads- hopefully he'll prove to be a big find for us over the course of the year, there will be tougher tests ahead. Regardless of how we go in the league, I think most of our fans will be reserving judgement for the championship, but it's a decent start that hopefully we can build on. |

In fairness would have expected a limerick win, Tipp are just back from the team holiday. Personally think Limerick wont get out of Munster this year, my prediction is a Tipp - Galway final

Week 2. Two good fixtures in Cork V Tipp this evening and Limerick V Galway tomorrow. Hard to call either, don't think there's much doubt that Tipp are better than Cork and Limerick are better than Galway (not by an awful lot though) but with Cork only having 2 home games and needing a reaction after last week's defeat, they might get one here. Very hard to bet on Cork given their league record in general and the fact it is the AI champions they are playing, but think they might have a performance in them this week.
LK Galway- no idea. LK have home advantage, but think O'Neill's idea for Galway is to hit the ground running and build momentum to make sure there is none of the sloppiness for the championship that cost them last year. Eh, draw. Elsewhere, WD & KK should win, while Davy won't want to lose a home game V one of his many mortal enemies in Lohan, would think a Wexford win there. Dublin Laois- think this one has a bit of a psychological element for the Dubs, who will want to (as they see it) rectify last year's championship result. Lose to Laois again and they could be in big trouble for the season ahead. |

League returns this weekend for round 3
1A Limerick vs Waterford (Saturday) Galway vs Tipp Westmeath vs Cork 1B Carlow vs Dublin (Saturday) Clare vs Laois Wexford vs Kilkenny As a Waterford supporter the Gaelic grounds has been a nightmare for us and it would be very nice to get a win up there Saturday. We drew against Wexford in a challenge last Sunday with the returns of Aussie Gleeson and Jamie Barron. Think Limerick are just too good atm and will grind out a win. A win for either side will guarantee them passage to the next round Tipp vs Galway will be interesting as a loss will knock Tipp out of reaching the next round and a loss for Galway may be troublesome as they have 2 tough games to finish off the group stage (away to Waterford and home to Cork). Cork should have no issues against Westmeath 1B games should see wins for Dublin and Clare but the Wexford vs Kilkenny game is interesting and could be at a high enough intensity. Kilkenny have been going well so far and this maybe the first real test. Wexford will want to bounce back after losing to Clare in the 2nd round Edited by Healy52003 - 11 Feb 2020 at 11:21pm |

I've never been at a match in Limerick that we won. I'm not even sure when the last time we won a match in Limerick is come to think of it, but it isn't any time recently. Don't see us winning that one anyway. That game in Ferns finished as a draw ? Conditions must have been awful, couldn't read too much into that either but I suppose we must have been reasonably competitive anyway.
