Duffy defintely traveling. McCarthy on FAI TV.

"I had a text from him saying he'd been given the all-clear this morning, he'd trained with the lads, he must have done some football work that's good news, he is on a flight and he will be with us to travel tomorrow,

"All along he has been pretty confident he will play, he has been running all week, he trained with the [Brighton] team and if he's doing full training, he's fine. Hopefully he gets here safe and sound and travels."

McGoldrick news:

Saturday is far too soon for him but if he trains over the weekend, he might still be an option as a sub in Switzerland, It would be a nice problem to have."

With the news today, I'd say this will be the team:

Randolph
Coleman Duffy Egan Doherty
Hendrick Whelan Hourihane
Robinson Collins McClean

--

Back five and three midfielders are almost definite.

Connolly could potentially come in for Robinson, Collins or McClean (if he's injured)

I am going against the grain here and think Connolly shouldn't start against Georgia but get the last 20-30  and going by how we have played under mick let him loose on Switzerland where he will be dangerous on the counter with a nothing to lose mentality and gives him a chance to have max impact without a tonne to lose. Win-win imo and thats how Mick will go at it I think.

Problem is, a disaster in Georgia has been waiting for some time. The amount of times we’ve robbed points out there is amazing. It’s  It an easy game, and in reality we need our best players on both nights.

Georgia have a seriously blunt attack, no real need to risk Duffy against them
We're decent enough..

So do we. Duffy is our biggest goal threat that's likely to start.

Start with Long and Egan against Georgia and bring Duffy on with twenty to go if we need a goal or if we need to defend a lead.

That could help to get him up to speed for Switzerland on Tuesday.

The Georgia game is by far the bigger game.

Win that and the Swiss match will maybe be a free shot, with no risk attached to losing. This depends on switzerland getting a result in Denmark.

Surprising that so many ppl on here havent grasped that yet

100%

We must win in Georgia and play our best team available.

Mick can’t be thinking of the Swiss game now.
Win in Georgia and we can have a go against the Swiss knowing we still have a home game to qualify.

Exactly. In fact if we beat Georgia and Denmark beat the Swiss we could qualify on Tuesday if we managed to fluke it.
