Complacency written all over that City performance
Fair play to Arsenal, Arteta got it spot on and they did a job on City For all their easy wins when they steam roller teams, for some reason if you score the first goal against this City team they struggle. We’ve seen it many times this season

A truly awful performance from city.it might look like city were hard done by going by the stats but it was the kind of performance that makes me think these players have heard all pep has to say.all teams have to do to beat us is sit on there 18yard line, leave a pacey striker up top and he’ll eventually get a chance and likely score.some of the players need serious look at themselves....Silva and Kdb,sterling were poor but current form gets them away with it.marhez is a one trick pony...mendy is awful and has to be sold..and rodri again does nothing,Jesus was shocking.why city put cross after cross after cross in is head scratching when the players are so small and poor headers of the ball anyway is schoolboy stuff.plus city don’t seem to have a plan B when it’s not going there way which I put down to pep.and it’s crying out for a new striker to come in....

Before the game I checked the odds and City were 7/1 to win. I expected it to be close but Arsenal were worthy winners. It’s madness that City are still favs for the champions league given the teams on their side of the draw. City fans should lay that bet. It was an off day for City but they just had no plan B. As you say JB, why fire in lots of crosses with small players in the box. The lack of recruitment over the last 2 years has caught up on them. Even when you are winning you need to keep adding to the squad. A new striker (Harry Kane), Central defender and left back are the priority now. But given City’s financial resources, they should be looking to buy the best talent that is available that will improve the squad. There seems to be a lack of availability recently.

The bookies over rate City, have said it for years
Even last night, Arsenal 8/1 before the game, 2/1 after they took the lead and still 11/8 ten minutes into the second half to win. Citys CL odds over the years have been way too short, seem to be favorites every season. If they play like they did last night they’ll not get past Madrid They’ve a massive job ahead of them this summer in the transfer market to get in the right players to get anywhere Liverpool next season IMO. Kompany never replaced and now Sane and Silva going will put a big hole in that squad.

At least to the end of next season
Think he’ll be offered a new contract soon, whether he signs it or not is another thing |

If he stays to end of next season it’ll have been 5 seasons, more than he’s spent at any club and a lot longer than anyone on here has envisaged considering after every defeat for the last three years there’s been a comment on here saying he’ll be gone in a few months.
You could hardly accuse him of bailing out early

Big fan of Pep’s style as you know, following the Cruijff Ajax/Barca mantra. But unfortunately the game evolves and Pep is quite stubborn. A lot of teams know how to get at them and if they score first City dont seem capable of responding despite all their obvious possession.
Personally I wouldnt like Pep to change but I think his recruitment lately has to be questioned. A lot of Ajax players have moved recently and would have been perfect but were City even in for them ?

I think they were in for De Jong but he went to Barca
It really is a strange season by City, they’ve steamrollered a lot of teams but when you look at it those have mostly been the average and poor teams of the league. Record against the other teams kd the “big 6“is poor, and they’ve also lost to the likes of Southampton, Norwich and twice to Wolves It’s actually been a bad season when you take all that into consideration

By their high standards, yes. Next season will be tougher as Chelsea and Utd will improve.

I think Chelsea will beat United today. They look a lot sharper and Matic was caught a couple of times asleep in possession.
