The prize money for the Irish Premiership is about £30,000. Linfield get £200,000 a year for Windsor Park. A win win for them.

Still hard to see how it would work with two seperate football associations and 2 seperate co-efficients and teams to qualify for Europe.

It would need to be something similar to the format this year but perhaps enlarged, e.g.

The domestic leagues still happen but shortened to 1 home and 1 away game against each other. That decides the domestic league rankings for European places.
Do the domestic cup at that time too.

Then mix the leagues together into the national league and carry over the points, play the teams across the border 1 home and 1 away. In the end, whoever has the most points is champion. League price money split based on all-ireland league ranking (incentive to finish well even when no chance of europe from domestic league and no change of winning the league).
Bottom placed Irish league club and bottom placed LOI club in the national league rankings is then relegated (incentive to keep trying hard to avoid relgation for the weaker teams, even if they did ok in the domestic league phase).
Could also do a mixed cup competition at this time too. Or maybe even do the domestic cup competition so teams like Rovers and Bohs can still get a game against each other in the second half of the season.

Really think uefa need to look at domestic leagues, there are too many leagues across Europe that the winners are easily predicted merging leagues would be a good thing, imagine FC Basel playing in the bundesliga, Porto playing in la liga, Anderlecht playing in the Eredivison. Obviously it's not as straight forward as that but for initial period you could leave individual countries keep their European spots so let's say the top 4 Swiss teams in the German Bundesliga would still qualify for Europe.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.
