We need 17 points to qualify really, and that should be the goal.

Win one of the home games against the big 2, beat Georgia away and get another draw out of the remaining 2 games.

We are 23rd. Pretty much would have to have 8 teams above us not qualify. Looks highly unlikely at this point. Might not get a favorable draw however depending on how some teams like Wales who are above us finish.

Are the play offs at a neutral venue one off game or usual home and away?

How will the play-offs work?

The highest-ranked team in each League will play the country ranked fourth, with the nations placed second and third comprising the other semi-final.

Unlike previous play-offs, these will be single-leg knockout matches, with the highest-ranked teams hosting each semi-final. The host for each League's play-off final will then be drawn in advance.

From Wiki

The host of the final will be decided by a draw in November 2019 between the two semi-final pairings.[8]

So unless we meet Norn Iron in the playoffs, we will play the highest playoff side in our League on their home patch and that's just a semi, which if we get through, will lead to us playing a side, nearly as good as them, on their home patch!
So having to go through this way will be virtually impossible!Angry
Ironically, Georgia could qualify from their own league this way!
Odds on us getting to play Spain in that game in Bilbao must be at least
10/1!

Correct, people kept harping on about how "we're guaranteed a playoff" but the playoff this time round is a much lower chance than previous playoffs. This is more akin to the Championship playoffs.

It doesn't necessarily mean that. There's 8 play off spots to be filled from League A and League B. 20 teams will qualify automatically. We could possibly get a team from League A, League B or even League C depending on who fills the 20 slots. Plus the venue for the final play off will be drawn, the semi final is based on ranking, not the final.

We can’t beat anyone of note, so if we end up in the playoffs training will be entirely made up of penalty shootouts.

I think we play a semi final away from home then play another game if we win, which could be at home

If we finish 4th in League B teams that haven't qualified and all the League A teams qualify, does that mean the North would get 3 League C teams in their playoff? Could very well happen...

No, because there is then a draw with various complicated rules, including that group winners (i.e. League C group winners) can't be drawn against teams from a higher league and that if the playoff brackets can be drawn in such a way as to maximise the odds of hosts making it, then that will be done.

In your example, four of the five League B teams would be drawn randomly (assuming there is only one host in that cohort, us of course) and the fifth would then go into what are technically the League A playoffs, which would be the leftover League B team and the next three best unqualified teams (i.e. the runners up etc in League C). League C group winners who don't qualify automatically are guaranteed a playoff and cannot faces teams from a higher league in that playoff.

Oh so if there are more than 4 league B teams that don't automatically qualify, there is a random draw to select which 4 teams are in the League B playoffs and which teams make the League A playoffs which are more like the League C teams that haven't qualified? Didn't know that but that's interesting. Hoping we can qualify in the group as I really don't see us winning a one legged playoff on the road.

Would take that now even if we had to win it.

That's a fairly big "all going well". It will require us to get three or four points between now and then.

We might still be looking at other groups that evening and the following evening, to see if we get a playoff spot in the event we don't make it.

I think we'll draw with Swiss at Aviva and beat Georgia who have nothing to play for.

Really we need one of denmark and Switzerland to lose against each other and 3 draws against them would get us through
