McEvoy is not athletic enough to deal with that number 11.

As an aside, with Troy Parrot in this team we’d have been looking at six points no problem, and possibly 7/9.

This would be the most Irish performance ever at a tournament, three one-all draws.

1-1 home draws at that, even more typical.

Decent tournament all things considered I think.

Had enough chances to beat the Greeks by 3/4 which is the difference.

The lads went out on their sword. They can be proud of their performance over the 3 games.

A 1-0 win versus Greece wouldn't have sent us through in the end.

Confident though that with Parrott, we would've put 2/3 against Greece at least and would've beaten the Czechs.

Was just thinking that. Would have gone out on GD.

Ya what!

I thought he was excellent today.

Ireland rode their luck today, passed the ball well throughout the match but not really penetrating the opposition much.

Belgium on another day could possibly win by 3 or 4, they wasted a lot of chances, and were very dangerous in possession.

Hodge was excellent and so to was Matt Everitt, who won pretty much everything against 2 strong Belgium centre halves.

Still fair play to them for getting a result against a stronger Belgium side.

Corcoran had a great game I thought. He had much more to do than Bazunu and his kicking was much better also as I thought Bazunu’s kicking wasn’t great in the other two games. Can’t really criticise any of the young lads as they genuinely gave 100%. Have to be realistic we arnt going to get 8/9 out of each of the last 3 u17 squads but hopefully 2/3 from each year will progress into the senior team in the near future. Also some of the lads like Hodge might even get into the u19 squad on the back of his recent performances.

The number 11 was the best player on the pitch but every time he was in possession he was literally slapping the Irish lads away, not sure how the referee didn't pull him a couple of time for it,

I thought Corcoran was good, he is very composed with the ball at his feet.
Their number eleven was pushing lads out of the way because our lads were often trying to obstruct him. He knew he had the beating of them and vice-verse.

Someone should have put him in the stand.

Although the fullback did well to show him outside most of the time.

Their #8 was superb at taking the ball in the middle of the park shaping to pass it out right, doing a lovely rollover and pinging it 30 yards to the left wing or vice versa. He had the pitch mapped out early, was comfortable with both feet and his passing technique was brilliant with the right amount of pace on the ball. Great to watch
