Randolph - 8 - had little to do all first half but made a good save in the closing minutes. Needlessly gave away a corner in second half.

Coleman - 6 - frustrating night for him, seems to have lost a yard of pace and his end product was poor
Duffy - 6.5 - usual performance, did the basics of defending right, passing was sh*te
Keogh - 7.5 - a few good headers
Stevens - 6 - crossing was poor and a few sloppy passes

Whelan - 8.5 - ran the game at times and showed a bit of everything
Hourihane - 8 - loses a point for greed when not squaring it to Brady, makes up for it for his goal. Had a great first half aside from not passing it, faded a bit second half
Hendrick - 8 - was brilliant first half, some great link up play.
Brady - 6 a bit anonymous
McClean - 7.5 - had some very good touches and worked his socks off. A few frustrating decisions/crosses, and has a habit of moaning his innocence to refs when he's clearly fouled a man which is annoying

McGoldrick - 8.5 - led the line brilliantly, showed a good touch to control some difficult balls over the top, linked up play well

Randolph-7 The one shot he had to deal with he dealt with well. He was a bit sloppy in conceding a           corner.

Coleman-5 I thought he was average, he has definitely lost a yard of pace.
Duffy -5 His distribution was less of a factor with Whelan, but it is still abysmal. Soli
Keogh-6 Solid performance. He does play in a style Mick must recognise!
Stevens- 5 Still see him as wing-back more than a full-back.

Whelan-9 Hope he gets the praise he deserves.
Hourihane-7 Great goal and some decent deliveries from set-pieces. He has to be on them when he is on the pitch. Should have played Brady in.
Hendrick-7 His best game in a while, some nice passes and touches and a lot less hiding and back turning. Still a bit of it though!

Brady- 4 He would have got a goal if Hourihane hadn't been greedy, but was anonymous otherwise.
McClean-6 Certainly better, but he is still very frustrating. The silly free-kicks are still a danger.

McGoldrick-9 I never thought he could play that role, but he has proved many wrong. He was brilliant. He ran himself into the ground. I do enjoy his running style too. I saw it be described elsewhere as that of  a man pushing his worldly possessions in a trolley. I think that covers it.

Would go along with the original scores^, struggling to think of Duffy misplacing anything badly, restricted them well, and did as well aerially as Keogh if not better, 7 for me.
McClean should have came off, look visibly tired from about 60/65 onwards, 7 as well.

O' Brien didn't seem to have any burst of pace when he came on, following into the box or chasing down a centre half… maybe he was instructed not to on the later to keep a structure, but just annoyed me as he had been on all on two minutes.

Randolph 7 - great save
Coleman 7 - got forward well and solid in defence
Duffy 7 - easy enough night for him, dealt with whatever came his way
Keogh 7 - always looks nervy, but ultimately did well
Stevens 6 - did ok
Brady 6 - a mixed bag, had some nice moments but was also quiet for spells.
Whelan 6.5 - Still cowardly in possession, but generally did enough. Tired badly in the last 20.
Hourihane 8 - Best game in a Ireland shirt, brilliant free kick.
Hendrick 7.5 - Another classy performance from our most talented midfielder.
McClean 6.5 - Complete headless chicken at times, but the stretched nature of the game suited him and he did alright.
McGoldrick 8.5 - Best performance from an Irish striker in a long time, he was brilliant. Terribly unlucky not to come away with a goal.

Randolph- 7- Not much to do though fine save before half time. Bit sloppy to concede a needless corner.

Coleman- 7- Seems to have lost a yard of pace but still got up and down the wing all game. Got into some great positions.

Keogh- 7- Solid and dependable. Lack of pace a concern though.

Duffy- 6- Sloppy at times but good in the air. Not his best night though.

Stevens- 7- Worked well with McClean and should probably have had a goal.

Whelan- 8- Wise head in front of the back four. Excellent performance and maybe a new lease of life for a man much derided.

Hourihane- 7- Great free kick and worked his socks off. Tired the last 20 mins though and got a little sloppy.

Hendrick- 7- Tireless work and some decent quality. Unlucky to be offside for the goal. Looks a different player though.

McClean- 7- Worked his socks off and showed glimpses of quality but gave away some silly fouls and made some poor decisions.

Brady- 6- Not fully fit and it told but worked hard and did a shift for the team. He will have better nights.

McGoldrick- 9- Reminded  me of Jon Walters but with skill. Showed some lovely touches. Very unlucky not to score. Intelligent movement all night. Worked his socks off. A top performance.

Subs

O'Brien-5- Didn't do much but worked hard at least.

Doherty-6- Great link up with Coleman at one stage and a good shift to get us over the line.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

Yes he did get into some great positions but he didnt make any of them count. Gives the ball away so many times and cant cross. For me id have doherty at right back if it was a choice but that wont happen. Id have given him a 5. Offers no real threat any more.

Randolph-7. Made important saves when called on but overall had a relatively quiet game.
Coleman-7 Good performance from our captain. Could have been better for in attacking areas with final pass/cross.
Duffy-7 Solid performance. Did everything expected of him.
Keogh-7 Same as a Duffy really. Solid defensive display.
Stevens-7 Solid defensive display. Could be better in attacking areas.
Brady- best performance in Irish shirt for a long time. Troubled Georgia a few times.
Whelan-7 was our only defensive midfielder in our squad and did a bloody good job. Allowed the likes of Hendrick and Hourihane to be more effective in attack with his solid defensive performance.
Hourihane-8 very good in possession and got the all important goal.
Hendrick-7 looks very impressive when  running at defenders. Difference in approach from Martin and Mick. Looked like the player from Euro 2016.
McClean-7 lacked quality with final ball but worked very hard and caused them problems with pace and taking full backs on.
McGoldrick-8 Immense in holding the ball up. Brought the midfielders into the game. Unlucky not to score but worked hard and should be our number 1 striker.

Mick McCarthy-9 look at the difference in approach between McCarthy and O’Neill. No aimless long balls to a lone striker all match. A team encouraged to attack and pass the ball. He knows our  limitations yet tries to get the most out of us. Comparing McCarthy’s 1-0 win to O’Neill’s win highlights the difference in the approach of both managers
“Randolph sends it long…and Shane Long is in behind the German defence… Shane Long against Neuer…. 1-0!.. What a moment!”

Think McClean has silenced some of his critics tonight. Thought he was very effective on the wing.

Mc clean Played well but his final ball wasn't right. Same as Coleman.. We looked sloppy at the center hourihane and hendrick will improve I hope. Mc goldrick and Long could work out. Arter should have been brought in for either hendrick or hourihane for the last 10

Ah here I’m not Whelan’s biggest fan but you’re deluded if you think Coleman had a better game than him.
