Yeah Melia could have three at least in the 2nd half alone..played some decent stuff on what looked a sh*te pitch. Need to get rid of the brain freezes at the back though.

Tbf some of the decision making in the final third was equally suspect at times, but they are kids and it's a great achievement to top the group. We will need to sort the defending out before the Finals though! Still, fair play, they kept going and just about got over the line, well done lads!

All done without possibly there best player in Trent Doherty who only played 45 mins across the 6 games, get him back fit for the Euros and sort the defence out and who knows how far they can go.

I was convinced it finished 2-2 when I came on and posted this!
I had been watching with sound off and had to take a work call call and when I restarted I thought they were showing highlights and match was over at 2-2. Missed the winner then but f**k it who cares Big smile

Young kid in poor decision shocker. Melia is 15.

They play great football which is the main thing at their age. You can train players into rigid formations and defensive strategies later, it's much harder to get their basic skills right at that stage.

I'm not singling Melia out at all, I'm just saying that some of the attacking play was just as poor as some of the defensive stuff. They were under big pressure and they are only kids, so I'm delighted they won the game, but they created enough chances to win three games and they also managed to concede a heap of chances despite being comfortably the better team. Kept going and got their reward in the end, fair play.

Cracking match that.
Sure, we were suspect at the back with the defending for their 2nd especially shambolic, but mistakes far more likely at this age-group so I'd not dwell on it.

Going forward though our play was, at times, scintilating.
Razi deserved his goal and toppped off a MotM performance with that lovely pass which was taken incredibly well for the winner by Okosun.
Melia at just 15 has great feet and experience will teach him when to release it, but the ability is there.

Draw for the finals is on April 4th and we can go to Hungary in May with some hope of making an impact.
Need to get the defence working from higher up the park (more people needed in midfield) but otherwise we look like we can give anyone a game.

Absolutely, a fit Kone Doherty will be a big asset, but that 4-2-4 shape that we saw in the first half left us wide open and we probably need to play a higher line (dunno how pacey our defenders are) to compress the play a little more. Far too much space in the midfield area left us exposed time and time again. Our captain Turley got a red last day, so I assume he wasnt playing, presumably he would help stiffen things up?

If Liverpool decided to release him that is. Spurs did it four years ago and refused to release Parrott for the u17 euros we hosted. That summer we'd to bring the B team to the 19s euros as about ten players were refused call ups.

Only one or two English based players in the squad this time thankfully, so no worries about losing that amount of bodies this time round. Going forward we looked really good so while losing TKD would be a blow it would not be a major loss.

I'm reading both of our first choice CBs Grante and Turley were missing, so that may explain some of the poor enough defending.

Brilliant control and finish from Okuson after only being subbed on.
