Wasn't aware of that until I read it earlier when I heard he died.

I thought he lost an eye in a car accident

Toffo......great sweets.
I’d be bitter too.....never forget.

Been away for a while and only just looking at the YBIG forums now for the first time in days. A bit late to be asking this, but was it ever established who poisoned Banks just before the 1970 World Cup quarter final? He was having the same food and drink as everyone else in the squad, but Banks was the only one to be struck down with food poisoning

The famous save from a Jeff Hurst penalty in the League cup semi final in 72. As a young kid I had to beg be allowed stay up to watch the highlights. Back then you didn't know the score untill the highlights came on. That night we had the sometimes customary white interference on the TV. Barely saw the save untill I saw the Stoke players congratulate him. A few minutes later it was replayed in the post match analysis which I did see in  all its glory. His most important save for Stoke. Although Stoke only won a league cup in the Banks era, they were beaten in two FA cup semis and nearly won the league a couple of times.l

I think 3 or 4 players came down with it but the others recovered.
No conspiracy.

Unlike Argie-Brasil match at Italia 90 when the Argie physio gave some Brasilians a dodgy water bottle

I once worked with a lad who didn't know about the Nazis final solution. I'd hazard a guess he wouldn't have known the outcome of the second world war or anything significant in the history of mankind.
