Played one game for the Junkies apparently. Leicester let him go instead of a younger Peter Shilton, joined Stoke at 28, both quality goalkeepers alright.

Why did he not play for bigger clubs, when he was so good? I suppose the game was different in those days.

He played for St Pats, just once,in 1977.

Sure that 1966 team had 3 from West Ham including Peters and Moore.  Have West Ham ever won  a trophy even?

1990 Shilton was playing with Derby County as was Mark Wright

Think they got to the UEFA Cup semis in the 70's unless I'm mistaken. Had tp play home leg behind closed doors

Sure they even had two players (Robson, Webb) from another small club that finished 13th that season - Manchester United.

I was at Richmond Park for his only game for Pats against Rovers. He made an fantastic save from a stinging volley from of all people, Eamon Dunphy. My other memory of the match being perched on the wall in front of the old stand and letting a full packet of Toffo fall on to the pitch. I asked a steward to hand tem up to me. The thieving junkie bastard put my sweets in the pocket of his coat and walked off. I hate those ****s ever since. And no, I wont let it go.

I think he just lose sight in an eye rather than lose the eye completely.

Wasn't aware of that until I read it earlier when I heard he died.

There was a great story from a caller to Banks on the radio, about being constantly asked about 'that' save.

His response was: "I'll be glad when it finally goes in"

LOL
