But in any case, your general point is correct, since crematoria are also council operated. Meanwhile, I wonder if another difference is that in Ireland, the remains more often go back to the house (for a wake etc), where they can only rest for a couple of days (for obvious reasons). Whereas in GB, it may be there are more Funeral Homes where the remains can be kept for up to a couple of weeks.

Imagine having an Irish wake for two weeks? There’d be a backlog of funerals.

very much open to correction on this but I think that gravediggers in the U.K. are basically all council employees and it takes about two weeks to get a grave dug. Here, it’s a church graveyard so it takes no time as there’s usually a lad will do it quick enough.
Certainly, there, more people are buried in municipal cemeteries than are buried in them here.

I always thought it was a better approach. Never understood what the rush was with us. Family having to deal with death and arranging a function within 24 hours, relatives having to book last minute flights to get home for funerals, colleges taking time off work at a days notice. The 2 weeks thing seems a lot more civilized.

Whereas here you're dead and you're worm food in two-three days. Agree it's too long though.

Are they taking bets on it? 5/6 the service lasts for over 1 hour, 5/6 less than 1 hour |

Can never get my head around why it takes so long to get buried over there? Must be so hard on the family, as it's two weeks since he passed. RIP

I think 3 or 4 players came down with it but the others recovered. No conspiracy. Unlike Argie-Brasil match at Italia 90 when the Argie physio gave some Brasilians a dodgy water bottle
