was in Majorca last May and was good. Lanzarote - Puerto Del Carmen last September and thought it was a bit of a kip so but towns outside of it were decent.

Looking for a spot with little or no dubs or the social welfare crowd  Thumbs Up

Can get a flight from Cork to Nice or Malta. anyone been there before?

Loads of Dubs in Nice and Malta.

outside of Dublin where would you recommend Paulie LOL

Mayfield in Cork. Lovely spot with friendly locals. You'll love it there.

Mayfield is grand. There's a few edgy spots in Cork city, Mayfield isn't really one. The 'Fob and Gill'there used to be a bit edgy though.

Ah, right. He should be guaranteed that there's no Dubs though
That's the main reason it is grand!

Cotton Ball is a much nicer boozer. Make some of their own beers on site, live music at the weekend.

Lagos in the Algarve.
Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria.

would somewhere in Gran Canaria not be full of Dubs?

Not Pt Mogan....no high rise.....no Lineker’s/Shamrock bars.
Puerto Rico is a 15 min drive away if you want all that.

recommend a decent spot to stay?

Depends on budget.
Radisson Hotel and Cordial Playa hotel are 4/5 star.
Self catering Cordial Valle Apts, 3 star, good value.
The Cordial chain have another couple of small size developments as well in Puerto Mogan.
Small Apt’s for rent right in the town.....above the “Bar Marina”...can’t get more central....never stayed there but a few I know said they are good.

I'm heading there in two weeks. We are spending one weekend in Split, the next few days checking out the islands and then heading down to Dubrovnik for the following weekend. Will you post up a few recommendations when you get back please?

I've been to Dubrovnik and wrote out a few suggestions for a mate that was going after if you want them?

MC, Split recommends -

You'll spend much of your time down the Riva i'd imagine. We were staying about 5 min spin just outside and used uber for all trips in and out (18 kuna = 3 euros) for each spin. Airport run was 45 euro with Uber so benchmark that. Price jacks up after midnight and it was close to 1am by time we arrived.

Restaurants - Zinfandel was our fave and very reasonably priced. Guy on guitar each eve and all pasta dishes are delicious. Fairly popular joint.
Bakra - about 300m from the Riva. Cool spot and great pizza.
Bakeria Kitchen and Wine - most popular restaurant in Split and always busy. A little more upmarket and trendy. Good grub but bruschetta was crap.

Boozers - take your pick on the Riva. It rained a few times whilst there so we went into Caffe Bar St Riva which has a narrow balcony that is grand spot for people watching.

Plenty of other spots in the little squares off the riva and all sun traps. It was hot as balls when the sun was out and i currently look like Rodney after the sunbed.

Fabrique - the coppers of split. Grand spot for late jar and to laugh at yanks that cant handle the session.

Quick stop for grub - whatever you do, do not focking miss Kantun Paulina. It's an absolute must. Looks like a dodgy chipper from the outside but the regular stream of punters will tell you all you need to know. Went three times for their sambos Embarrassed

Bokamorra - New York style pizza joint with a fancy spin on the usual classics. Nice cocktails too. At the other end of the Riva about 300m.

Dont leave Split without doing the blue cave and 5 island tour. Hvar is f**king glorious. Only sorry i didnt get to spend more time there.

For a beach, go to Kasjuni Beach. Magic spot. Just outside the town and a cool little beach bar there too. Off the beaten track and wasnt busy.

Rent bikes too and head up to the Marjan park. Nice aul spin and good sights from up high.

I wouldnt bother with Trogir to be honest. F all there. Grand but only if stuck for something to do.

Overall, transport cheap, beer reasonable, food moderate.

Lovely place but 4 days is plenty for anybody going unless you're a sun worshiper and happy on the beach for a few days.

copy and paste job on dubrovnik

First things first, if you need an airport transfer from Dubrovnik to wherever you are staying, use this guy – Ivo - +385953790408 (I told him that I knew somebody heading over so he is half expecting a whatsapp etc.)

Ivo wil sort you out if you want to do any day trips into Bosnia or Montenegro. We went to Montenegro for some culture. Grand spot and a bit of an eye opener. You’re leaving the EU so some interesting sights.

Anyway, if you’re staying put in Dubrovnik, you’ll do the cable car. It’s a 5 mins walk from the old town and provides pano views of the whole place. It’s 10er up and back (75 Kunas) per person and there’s a nice boozer/restaurant at the top.

In the old town, you have to go to Bota - https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Restaurant_Review-g295371-d2098053-Reviews-Oyster_Sushi_Bar_Bota-Dubrovnik_Dubrovnik_Neretva_County_Dalmatia.html

Unreal grub (Asian fusion) and great lads working there.

Get your ass to Buza bar too in the old city gates. It’s through a hole in the wall and maybe try get down early for the sunset as it gets busy.

Boat trip – we used these guys (€50 a head and we had our own boat for 7) - https://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g295371-d6748690-r280556528-Dubrovnik_Boat_Trips-Dubrovnik_Dubrovnik_Neretva_County_Dalmatia.html

Contact Pavo on Viber with a text - +38598393737

We did 3 islands (swam to shore for a jar on Lopud – water temp 20 degrees) unreal

Prepare yourself for a bit of walking – steps are a killer when p1ssed!
