That is one of the worst Irish squads in living memory ffs LOL

I'm not saying it's the best or worst squad ever but the way some people are going on you'd swear it is a squad of Sunday league players.

It's the level we are at in the current moment, the influx of foreign players has seen chances for Irish players limited and they've had to drop down the leagues

In that 38 man squad we have:

12 Premier League players :
Kelleher*,Coleman, Doherty, Christie,Duffy, K Long,Ward,McCarthy, Hendrick,Arter, Brady,S Long
(*I know he hasn't actually played but still registered to PL club)

There is 4 players from Sheffield Utd who are 3rd in Championship: McGoldrick, Stevens,Hogan,Egan

Two on form goalkeepers in Randolph and Westwood.

Yes there is lads like Collins and Amond from League 1 and 2 respectively but they are scoring goals and are confident.

It's our level Wales and Northern Ireland have had similar make up of their squads for the last few years.

As someone pointed out you'd think we had players like Messi or Ronaldo available to us.

To be fair that is the worst squad we have ever named.

Reserve goalkeepers, players who haven’t played in two years, League 1 bench warmers and League 2 strikers.

Genuinely interested to see what Georgia’s squad is like as it can’t be a whole lot worse than ours.

How many of them will be in the final squad?

Travers is a genuinely surprising call up, you'd have thought someone like Bonham or O'Malley would have been ahead of him, but obviously Mick has heard good things.
We're decent enough..

No. Wales have Ramsay and Bale. You can go very far even having 2 players of that caliber. We're not at that level in my opinion. We don't even have a midfielder at Joe Allen's level.

Of course - Bale and Ramsey but rest of their squad is in and around similar to ourselves.

But what did people expect? Was he supposed to find a load of players in a couple of months? The squad has been sh*te since around 2011 and getting gradually worse.

would have much preferred he took a chance on a young gun like Parrott/Idah/Connolly than Amond, got a good look at them and then decided whether to send them back down or not

Well that's like saying Argentina wouldn't be as good without Messi isn't it?!
Can you imagine we had a player going to Juve who will be getting paid 500k a week...

Yeah I was watching them in Nations League I think and they were playing some nice football. Maybe Mick can get us playing good football again but I think we're romanticising the past, I'd say it'll be route one for the most part, it's in our DNA.

It's a 38 man squad, take 15 out and then you can compare it against other countries

Davis looks past it, he is  vital to the way they play. They have continuity, everybody knows their job, but I have a feeling that they are past their peak.

Does anyone think he'll keep Curtis in the final squad, and maybe give him a run out against the Rock?
