Very exciting.
Sadly too late for me.

(Too late for me but feeding the baby)

Looked liked it was really close with a good few players getting to -10 but this local kid morikawa drove the 16th and got an eagle to win it with a final round 64 Clap
Casey and D Johnson both finished 2 shots back on -11

Morikawa been very consistent since golf returned from the lockdown. Still only 23 will go on to win a few more majors hard to find flaws in his game most of the time

Feck sake I had Dustin Johnson as outright winner since the beginning at 18/1. Was too tired to stay awake and watch it, glad now!

Did have just rose e/w so at least made a small profit overall.

Had Finau 48 & 65, Wolff 180 and Day 44 to win it from Weds, none each way 🤦‍♂️ they were three of the six joint leaders

Still, good weekend's viewing and entertainment, Morikawa is a class act

The competition is so high now.
It’s not just having a great week, you also need some luck.

I would have said the same for D Johnson, Day, Rose, Thomas etc

I’d like Rory to be the most successful European but can he get 3 more majors? I believe he will win another but it’s been a tough 4/5 years for him in majors.

Competition is a different level now compared to even 10-15 years ago these young players new into the tour are competing straight away. That was only his 2nd ever appearance at a major tournament. His consistency is something else he has only missed the cut once is his professional career which is some going for someone fresh out of college

I don't think he going to dominate the sport like some did in the past too many good players around for that to happen but expect him to win a few more going forward he is only 23 after all.

US Open at Winged Foot this week.

Last played here in 2004 when Ogilvy won with a score of +5.

Both Monty and big Phil just had to par the last hole to win... both double bogeyed.

Harrington just had to par the last 3 holes to win. He bogeyed every one of them.

2006

2004 was at Shinnecock Hills when Mickelson had a nightmare in the final round having been in a great position after 54 holes

Monty's approach shot to the 18th green in 2006 is one of the worst shots in history

Still, he ripped it up at the Ryder Cup, where it really mattered

He had to wait over 10 mins to take the shot.
But totally sh*t himself... just needed a 3 from 170 yards.
