He has won 5 PGA tournaments ; 3 of them majors. Should have put a bet on him. D Johnson has won 20 but only 1 major. He should have more. Rory has won 15, 4 Majors.

Rory is going to to need an excellent round today to have a chance - he will need a 67 or better.
Big Phil @48 went around in a 67 yesterday so maybe Rory has another 30 years to win this. He puts a lot of pressure on himself tho.

From Sporting Life The last 13 players to slip on the green jacket have all been in the top 10 after the first round, but only twice in the last 33 years has the winner of the Masters held the lead after day one, so it's a tough prospect leading from the front at Augusta. Current Masters top 10
Usually, then, you should only look at the names above as possible winners of The Masters, but given how bunched the field is this year it could well be the year that streak is broken. A total of 20 players are within four shots of the lead so there are still plenty in with chances, but it's Koepka who is the new 9/2 tournament favourite after his first round exploits. Big names out of contentionGiven that players outside the top 15 have about a 12 percent chance of going on to win The Masters, there are a few big names who are already up against it. +1 Rory McIlroy (22/1) , Sergio Garcia (150/1), Patrick Reed (250/1) The odds are for illustration purposes only as there's little chance now, even for McIlroy, to get back into it as it'd take a monumental effort to overhaul so many players over the rest of the tournament. |

No chance for Rory now. Too many good players ahead of him.
Only 2 shots separating the top 11. Some big names in that group so should be a brilliant day today. Hopefully good conditions so we see low scoring. Have a small bet on D Johnson but think there is 8/9 players in that group that could win it. Never thought Tiger would come back from all those operations but he has proven a lot of people wrong. |

Hopefully there'll be an hour or two of thunderstorm delays. I don't want anyone to be in any actual danger, running around swinging metal clubs above their heads, but a couple of hours delay would be good.

Why was Mcilroy the favourite? He hasn't won a major for 5 long years. He hasn't even challenged for one in years. What players do in lower tier tournaments shouldn't really matter too much. Until he at least contends for one again it would make more sense if he was down among the 16/1 shots.
