Went along to this. Decent enough match. Jamie Lennon of St Pat's and Neil Farrugia of UCD the standout players for me. I'd expect to see both of them, and possibly Trevor Clarke, in the proper U21 squad.

I wouldn't have seen much of the lads in the squad from the LoI playing ,is there some of them good enough to step up to senior squad in a couple of years? I was in Wolverhampton working a couple of weeks ago and seen.a young lad from Cork 15/16 years old on trial with them Harry Nevin what a player this lad is.

It's hard to say about which LOI lads can make the step up but a couple of them look capable. Trevor Clarke is the obvious one. Neil Farrugia has the physicality to go to England anyway. I'm a Saints supporter but I'm not fully sold on Lennon. He is a super passer of the ball but he isn't quite quick or dynamic enough in my opinion.

Trevor Clarke is brilliant, he can play on the left wing or at left back but I think the consensus is that he is better running from deep and having the pitch in front of him from left back. Good technical player who is very quick and capable of causing damage when running at the opposition, this time last year I would have said he was nailed on to go to England but he suffered a bad injury last year and was out all season. Back now and seems to be back to the level he was at but Rovers have been easing him back into it. Daragh Leahy has looked brilliant anytime I have seen him play for Bohs as well, he is also a left back, probably not quite as much of an attacking threat as Clarke but very solid and can get up and down the touchline. Haven't seen Elbouzedi, Mandriou or Farrugia yet as it is their first seasons in the premier division but have heard good things. I know Bazunu is now a Man City player but if his few appearances for Rovers last year are anything to go by he will be an unbelievable goalkeeper. Just turned 17 last month and has a long way to go of course but would definitely see him being a future no.1 for Ireland.

Im curios why Ryan Nolan hasn't been talked more seriously about getting a call up. Captain of the Inter U19 played Uefa Youth league against Troy Parrot. Wonder has anyone even been out there to see him play

He's on standby according to Kenny. Surely he is worth a look if he's making waves at such a big club. The mind boggles

Watching the press conferences what is the point of broadcasting them when they don't mic up the journalists asking the questions? The same with the senior one too, even though I think they did actually give some a mic half way through that.

Connor Ronan is out with a fractured rib, would expect Danny Mandroiu to replace him. Nathan Collins, Troy Parrott and Michael Obafemi will surely get called up for the first time. |
