Kenny can't really continue having him as a guaranteed starter. Surely, we're seeing nowhere near the Idah we should be seeing given the lack of match fitness.

Perhaps, but I don't think anyone could see a loan move as a bad thing at this stage

He's very much a bench option atm and that's fine but that is a Farke problem today not an Idah issue! He's not exactly scoring like Ronaldo but no one in the Norwich team is! Should have hurled him on with 20 mins to go give him a potential look at goal!!

Why not? He was probably the best outfield player across all 3 games of the last window. Its not like the alternatives are up to much.

Idah has pretty much only started in the absence of senior strikers - McGoldrick, Robinson, Connolly. Maguire, Long & Collins have all started ahead of him at different points, too. He should definitely push for a loan in January though.

I always expected Idah to be on the bench this season, I also expected Norwich to be a goal down in games with twenty minutes to go and for that reason alone I thought Idah would get a lot of 20 minute appearances but he hasn't.

Norwich have 14 games between now and the window opening, a lot can happen in the space of 2 or 3 games never mind 14. The lads ahead of him aren't doing anything impressive so he will get a chance, just has to make sure he is ready to make the most of it

The best outfield player is a massive stretch. Not sure what games you watched. He held the ball up well a few times, won some aerial battles but wasn't a goal threat even once. Massive chunks of the games he was nowhere near involved. He didn't look out of place but he didn't do anything to suggest he can't be swapped with another forward. We can't continue to play an unproven player that isn't playing football |

largely agree with all this. Has been far from undroppable. Have to feel for him though. Hasn't been given any decent run to actually show what he can do. it's been 2 months since he scored a goal (in a preseason friendly). Doesn't help one's confidence at that age either.

Farke sees him everyday on the training pitch. If he was showing him something, he'd get a go. |
Farke sees him everyday on the training pitch. If he was showing him something, he'd get a go. This is 100% true. That said, Farke has treated him oddly at times. He gave him one start last time they were in the PL, upfront on his own at Old Trafford. His only start this season has been against Liverpool. There are easier games for a young fella to impress in....
Hes a manager that just likes a very settled side, nearly always picks the same XI if they are all fit regardless of how they've been performing. Bit like Sean Dyche. I didnt see much of Norwich last season, but going back to when they were last in the Prem the year before I remember Pukki was being picked week in/out regardless of form. All his goals had dried up before the New Year. They were crying out for someone / something different. Even when they were offcially relegated with a couple games to go Idah didnt get a run out.

And displace the soon to be top scorer of all time for the club? Doubt it. Farke uses him as an option from the bench when Norwich are chasing the game, which is almost every game. If Farke didn't see anything in him, he'd be moved on by now

He shouldn't be starting for us plain and simple. Not a bad option from the bench but his lack of game time at club level surely must be an issue for Kenny. I could see through it if Idah was banging them in for us or offering a real threat, he isn't though

He's a promising 20 year old striker but he is nowhere near ready to lead the line either for Ireland or for a Premier League team. It will probably be a few more years before he is at that level, if he gets there at all. Norwich see him as an option to throw on for 15 minutes as an extra forward when they're chasing a game and realistically that should be his Ireland role for now also.
Norwich will almost certainly go down again and hopefully this time he will be fit in the Championship and play more games than he did last year. These 10 minute cameos in the Premier League are not much use to him but Norwich must feel that they need the extra body so have held on to him for the first half of the season at least.

Can see Parrott passing him out come next summer. He's playing senior football week in week out and is the link up player for MK Dons. Actually can see Keane possibly passing him out too by next summer if he stays injury free. Idah has the potential to be a very good player for us, but had McGoldrick not retired he wouldn't be starting for us. Keane being called up is Kenny plugging the gap that was left when McGoldrick retired. Idah played well in the last window, but he's still very raw and that's not gonna change until he gets meaningful game time under his belt at senior level. |
