Krul got into his head. Fairly daunting experience for the young lad missing a peno like that. Especially as the next round of the FA Cup was probably the only chance he'd get of another game.

If Spurs keep falling further behind Chelsea in the race for 4th, don't be surprised to see him playing more between now and the end of the season.

Unless Spurs win their next couple of league games, they'll have f**k all chance of getting 4th.

Possibly, but there was nothing in TP's body language to suggest this. Seemed more to me like he just struck an average penalty, but Krul guessed the right way.

Now Gedson who followed him, that was entirerly different. From the way he shaped up, I was sure he was going to miss. Condemned men have walked up to the gallows with more enthusiasm than he showed.

And if Mourinho instructed Gedson to take it, rather than his volunteering, then that is a further condemnation of him (JM).

Parrott's penalty was very saveable. Cant say it was that good. Not saying it was bad as the keeper needs to guess the right way.

Idah's penalty as a comparison could have had 2 keepers in there and would have still scored.

Which was why I called it "average" and average penalties sometimes go in.

Whereas Lamela's was poor (failed to hit the target) and Gedson's was atrocious (almost failed to hit the ball!). With their greater age and experience etc, neither has the excuse of Parrott.

Has a sniff of a chance of some champions league football this evening. On a bench with only himself and gedson Fernandes as attacking options. Depends how desperate Josie gets.

If he gets a decent run out tonight it will be a fantastic experience for him at such a young age.

Who was the last Irish player to play a knockout CL game I wonder?

Cillian Sheridan I think. Open to correction

Darron Gibson would be my guess. Maybe McGeady but don’t think Spartak got out of the groups.

Not that long ago Gibson was scoring in European qfs and sfs... Now he's on a short term deal at Salford. Still only 32.

Eoghan OConnell may have been the last player to play CL.
