Nice one. Who's their normal peno taker? Was it Browne no?

That inches him into the top 20 Irish scorers in the Championship this season with 2 - a cross that was deflected into the goal and a pen.

Parrott had a poor enough first half, looked very rusty. Both his touch and decision making were not great. He was put through on goal by a great pass from Browne, but his poor touch fluffed the chance.
He improved a lot in the second half, he was more involved, better on the ball and finding space for himself.
His cross lead to the handball and penalty decision. Good strong penalty, straight and high down the middle, hit the cross bar on the way in.
That should give him confidence. Hopefully he kicks on now for the rest of the season.

Starts today with Cannon getting a break after a good run.
Expect he'll get off the bench with PNE likely under the kosh most of the match.

No minutes vs France and just 17 off the bench vs Latvia, seemingly usurped by 20yo Tom Cannon at club level and with both Connolly and Robinson to come back from injury (both of whom can play on the LHS of a front 3), is Troy's position in the squad safe?

Well he'll need to play fairly regularly and score a few goals between now and the end of the season. If he does that then he will be in the squad in June.

No.

Right now he looks as if the Championship is too much for him. As was the case at Millwall. Another poor loan at League 1 level Ipswich too. Really MK Dons is the only place he has ever performed with any consistency, in League 1, and that was only for about half his time there.

It looks extremely unlikely that he will ever amount to the player people hoped he would be. At the moment it looks like he would be doing very well to establish himself as a reliable option in the Championship, a league where so far, he has shown a clear inability to score goals or grab assists in.

He is still young, but several other players have overtaken him while he has stagnated. He really needs to end the season strongly at Preston but he probably has run out of chances there and will be in and out of the team - making it harder for him to put a run of form together.

His next loan will be interesting, I still think a championship club will take a punt on him, but I dont think he will have too many suitors. And he could end up in a situation too like at Millwall where people decided the team wasnt playing to his strengths, but he has 3 failed loans out of 4 now so he will just have to get his head down and get on with it.

About 6 weeks ago, it was a penalty. Before that? A deflected cross against Norwich on the 8th of October. He did miss 15 games or so through injury between those goals though.

Is there an argument and maybe I’m making excuses for Parrott that he’s the sort of player like Byrne was when younger whose attributes would be far better suited to European Leagues then the Championship.

Championship is a tough League physical even compared to League 1 now which I’m noticing is full of young “modern” managers learning their trade playing decent football.

As for his squad position it did slightly surprise me Kenny left him out as he has faith in Parrott. Definitely a bit of a warning shot for him too. Id prefer him in the squad to Robinson or Keane a while. Parrott does offer something that the other lads who played against France don’t have.

We could safety assume Ferguson, Obafemi, and Ogbene are certs for squads when fit. Kenny is a big fan of Idah and his attributes are similar to Ferguson which is likely gonna see him called up if fit. Think Parrott should be fair game for Crawford to want at U21 level this campaign.
