Why? While I know as much about Troy's progress as you, how do you know that the key to Troy's development is in fact the opposite? Maybe the very thing he needs is competitive game time. Whether at Spurs or loan somewhere else.

Impress in those games and they’ll start getting chances in the league from the bench.

It's a shame that Tottenham aren't playing until the next round

Yeah just realized that the top PL teams aren’t in this round.

Even still, there’s a good chance will see some our Bournemouth lads playing, while I think I read that Aaron Connolly is certain to play for Brighton this week.

Hopefully Norwich rest Pukki and Idah gets a chance too.

Good enough old enough, look at Barca yesterday playing a 16 yo, I think we will see Troy playing for Spurs soon enough with the way Spurs are playing at the moment.

Not saying Troy was the answer, but what is the logic in having such a defender heavy subs bench and having literally no striker options? Moura would easily have been yanked early had there been a striker on the bench.

It’s been spurs problem for a few seasons now. They are crying out for another wide forward.

Once the league cup comes around it will be clearer if Poch thinks Troy is ready. I still think there is no rush at 17.

No rush for the average 17-year-old. but I don't think Troy is the average 17-year-old. Maybe he needs to strike while the iron is hot. Maybe right now what he needs is game time.

Was thinking the same. Game was crying out for a goal poacher. Kane was having a poor game also. Needed someone else in there.

Doesn't make the bench according to Nathan Murphy.

Robbie has an Instagram story and Parrott's jersey is hanging in the changing room. Could just be the 19th man though.

Georges-Kevin N'Koudou has gone on loan to Besiktas for the season. Think he's made the bench for Spurs' opening couple of PL games so one less body in the way for Parrott.

How we need a player like Barry Douglas!

Then why is Stevens picked?
Stevens is a left-back converted to a left wing-back. Doherty is a left-back converted into a right wing-back.

I think that is a large part of the thinking anyway.

Why do you persist in this delusion that Doherty is a left back?? He's a right-footed right back who played at left-back for one season to accommodate (the then highly rated) Dominic Iorfa.
He isn’t anymore, but that’s where he established himself at Wolves and wars fairly average whenever I saw him there. His career has taken off since he moved to the right and Wolves started using wing-backs. There’s no delusion at all!!
(I felt the second exclamation mark counteracts your second question mark)
