If they get to the ECL they'll have 2 games every week for a good amount of time before the WC. They only have 4 cms so you'd expect him to get a good amount of time if they don't add anyone else there.

Cannot see Coventry getting any real PL gametime. He might make the matchday squads but that will be the height of it id say. Like Josh Cullen his future will be elsewhere.

Nice milestone to hit for his boyhood club.

I'll echo others in thinking he likely won't see much gametime if he stays at there this season. West Ham almost landed Onana (a DM) for £33m last week, it fell through but obviously putting up that money means they aren't just going to give up getting in another DM.
Coventry will/should have a loan lined up for when that happens so he doesn't miss the window.

On the bench today for West ham, which is very good but I would think at 22 he needs to get a run of games like he did at MKDons.

Another loan move there would suit both parties but maybe he should be aiming a bit higher than league 1.

Hopefully he doesn't spend the season at West Ham picking splinters from his hole. He's likely only gonna get the odd few minutes every now and then when games are finished. Has he left it too late to get a decent loan though.

I wouldn't think so - plenty of Championship and League 1 squads looking a bit light, hopefully he can get a move to a Championship team that's not fighting a relegation battle.

Wonder if they are waiting to see if anything happens with Declan Rice before the end of the window. He is probably 3rd choice now but if Rice was to leave on transfer day for silly money then they might need to have extra bodies like Coventry around

Unless they get someone else in, they'll probably hang onto him this half of the season as backup / squad player as they're a little light in that area and theres a hefty enough fixture schedule with the winter World Cup.

If they qualify for the conference league group stages they'll have 6 group games on top of the 2 legged playoff next week, so 8 total there. Then 2 rounds of the League Cup should the progress to the 4th round.

So possibly 10 games off the bat Coventry could be considered to see game time in.

Thats outside of Rice moving, injuries and suspensions in the league.

Coventry should know more over the next 4 matches in the League and the Conference. If he is still just getting the 80th something minute token sub appearances, over those 4 matches and not given a proper run or they sign another midfielder. He should just go on loan to the Championship before the window closes.
At 22yo he has only made 50 odd senior club appearances in his career so far, so being a bit part player is hardy going to bring him on. There has been a lot of transfer news all summer that West Ham are looking for another midfielder with Matheus Nunes the latest.

Week in week out games in the championship would be a better option for Coventry I feel.

But the biggest concern for ireland fans would be knight, playing in League 1 and in the right back position... the need for another right back is not there when we have Coleman and Doherty there already and festy and mcnamara taking strides.

We need knight to be the midfielder that can create something from nothing.

All depends on the transfer market imo. If West Ham dont sign another CM before the window closes, Conor will be just fine there until the World Cup is over. Some PL minutes off the bench, a few Conference League starts and who knows, with a bit of luck it might turn in to something more. It's maybe a chance for the lad. Obviously he should have something lined up in the event that West Ham sign another midfielder or two.

Great experience for him. Good way to get some exposure or show his own club he's worth more gametime.

Subbed off with a few minutes to go. Thought he was fine, kept it tidy and simple but nowhere near Cullen's level for now at least.
