Far better to be in a winning team, albeit at a lower level, than slogging away in a relegation battle. |

Played the full 90 in a friendly today against Servette FC from the Swiss Super League, game was live on WHU Youtube Channel, they won 2-0, Coventry played well, one of only 2/3 players to play the full ninety, came back from Holiday 1 week early to see if he can make the first team squad, looked assured and confident, personally gave him 7.5, Okoflex came on and played approx 20 minutes I think, did OK at best.

Would be fairly certain that he won’t be anywhere near the first time after the signing of Flynn Downes. Be best off getting a championship loan.

A great read.
Curious to see where he goes this season. Himself and Kilkenny knocking on the door of the seniors but that will only continue if they are playing football regularly. This season is a big one for both, as to whether they get a call-up this year or have to wait another year.

I like David Sneyd and it's the best piece of read from him in a while. Great depth and detail for the family insights. Some lovely photos. And a great structure overall. The conversation is great. He allows some lovely little bits to come out. Coventry saying he was to help the 21s qualify so doesn't want to not be playing at West Ham. His mother shooting in to refer to Brian Maher (by first name) as a close underage friend for us. The stuff on the grandparents. The grandfather being absolutely addled with illnesses and getting to see Coventry play for Ireland. The parents differing approaches to counselling him. Must read it back.

brilliant article. David Sneyd is one of the best journalists covering the national team, i'd say dan mcdonnell and him are the top 2 easily

Coventry, Okoflex and for some reason Randolph as a third keeper are on the bench for West Ham today.

100% solid achievement for one of our u21s to make a premier league debut, especially as west ham are a very well established Premier league team.

Could be more midfield competition for Conor if West Ham sign Ross Barkley from Chelsea. They are one of four PL clubs reported to be interested, Celtic also, but a return to Everton looks the most likely at the moment.

Nice for him to finally get off the bench and make his EPL debut having been an unused sub a good few times before. But, having done that now, i'd say he'd still be better finding another Championship loan rather than sticking around for token minutes here and there and the odd cup appearance. Might even be time for him to make a permanent move elsewhere at this point unless Moyes is serious about involving him in the first team.
