Nope only discovered them last year, the lion incident happened in 2011.

Being an amateur paleontologist I was in Colorado at a dig and one of the days our group (4 of us) went on a hike around the National Park. it was getting dark so we decided to take a shortcut as we knew the trail went in a U shape.

I was at the back of the group when the lion pounced on my back as I tied my lace. Thankfully managed to push it off and when the rest of the group came to help it ran off.

Many people Colorado is the centre piece of the Morrison Formation one the biggest Jurassic sites in the world

Closest I came was in the car with my sister and her friend about fifteen years ago. We were turning right into a car park when a Corsa came flying past us on the right, clipped the front wing, went sideways, hit a bollard, flipped onto its roof and slid across the road into palisade fencing. We didn't nearly die but the lads in the other car were very lucky. The pair of them crawled up the back window. They were understandably shook. I've no idea to this day why they were trying to overtake the way they did where they did.

But I've never been close, thankfully.

Was on a flight back from Lanzarote before and the plane narrowly avoided a mid air collision with a Delta Airlines flight. Still remember looking out the window and seeing the other plane coming towards the plane. Was only my second time ever on a plane and I ended up reading about it in the newspaper. Only a few hundred feet from being smashed out of the sky.
