according to this - https://www.independent.ie/sport/butler-ready-to-serve-cause-26124836.html - he was approached by Wales, but chose Ireland because Mick McCarthy had spoken to him first

crazy to think Gibson is only at 200 games in English football at his age, such a shame the mix of injury problems and off field issues. to put in context pretty sure I saw that aiden O'Brien's game for millwall in the cup in which he scored at the weekend was his 200th career game and he is 6 yrs younger

Just wanted to apologise to anyone who follows the updates on social media, for the repeated posting of the same message yesterday. I've been trialling some new software for the matchday updates, and everything was going well until the first live run during the Gibraltar game yesterday.

I'm hoping that everything will be resolved ahead of the game against Georgia on Tuesday, and you'll only see the history of games against Georgia once!

Had some good feedback on this, including a request for a slightly different approach https://twitter.com/irish_abroad/status/1116327383391514624

After Shane Long's second goal in consecutive Premier League games at the weekend, I wondered what the record of goals in successive Premier League games was for Ireland players - http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog?id=6320272857578980931
